Sadly, our Spring-like interlude is over and the snow, ice and bitter cold that is the reality of Winter, came rushing back with a vengeance.
Many of us are miffed here in the Mitten State because all the weather forecasters promised this week would be beautiful, but cold, then late Sunday night there was chatter about a dusting of snow. By Monday morning, that “dusting” had morphed into a four-inch snowfall, accompanied by freezing rain and a Winter Weather Advisory.
Of course, your roving reporter deferred all of her errands from last week to this week, so she could go gallivanting at the parks and piers, just because she really needed that “nature fix” … that was a bad move for this Winter Weenie who dislikes driving in the snow.
Though my posts and photos were prolific recently, I’m mothballing my walking shoes for a while because we have another snow and ice event coming up this Saturday. It appears that someone stepped on Mother Nature’s toes and got her riled up.
There are even more clouds on the horizon, because the viewing of the spectacular Super Blue Blood Moon will be hampered by clouds here in Southeast Michigan, thus obstructing our view. Hopefully, those gloomy skies and cloud cover stay in place until Friday so that Punxsutawney Phil CANNOT see his shadow. I’d sure welcome Spring’s early arrival – you too?

Thank you so much Noor – I will check this out – how exciting! Unfortunately, I will have to read it later as I am at work right now – got here later as my boss has clients in until this evening, so I did not go online until later. (I work from home.) Thank you again – I am excited to discover what it is all about. – Linda

Noor, I took some more time this morning to read about the Liebster Award and I would like to participate and will do so after I can compile a list of fellow bloggers’ links and also give you my answers … even though I’ve been blogging here at WordPress for nearly five years, it is my first time getting this award and I want to do this right. 🙂 Also, I only recently gained subscribers on WordPress … up until around Christmas, I only had a handful of subscribers to my blog, and they were friends who were/are not fellow bloggers;here on WordPress. I am sorry I did not link to your blog yesterday when I replied and I am doing so now and thank you again for this honor. -Linda https://noorshrfawi.wordpress.com/

Thanks – I got behind in reading posts as I got busy with work (that pesky work sometimes) and I had to catch up in one fell swoop. Glad that you are enjoying them … they get few and far between once the snow arrives … we are getting another storm this Saturday – ugh.

I am not a fan of Winter and thankfully work from home now, but I took the bus for years, so my Winter driving skills are not so great. But, in catching up in “Reader” tonight, I read about a fellow blogger, who lives in Northern Michigan, who slid on a patch of ice, took a bad fall and hurt her hand badly. I am so reluctant to walk in the Winter, and for this very reason, and I live in SE Michigan where the Winters are sometimes bad (this year is a bad Winter), but not like up North were TJ lives. This is what happened to her: https://ilovetogoagardening.com/2018/01/30/a-patch-of-ice/

I enjoy it – her blog is written from a rural perspective, but hearing about this accident was downright scary to me (especially as an avid walker).

I miss Michigan. Born and raised there. Been south two years now. I sort of, don’t, miss all the ice and snow. lol…

I was born in Toronto and lived there the first 10 years of my life and my father got transferred with Ford of Oakville to Ford of Woodhaven. I am still Canadian and carrying my green card – procrastinate much? And, I definitely would not miss the Michigan weather if I had a chance to be in the south. But look at the south’s crazy weather this last few years. My friends in North Carolina and Virginia are getting walloped this year.

Yeah, I am West Virginia currently… I love it here. I miss my lakes though! 😦 We have had quite a bit of snow this year. Ice… COLD temps…

Yikes, yes the Great Lakes are beautiful, but I’d opt for the warmer weather in a heartbeat, that’s for sure. I am an avid walker and the Winter has sidelined me quite a bit, but you know what … we were having two mild Winter back to back and got spoiled. One of the bloggers I follow lives in Northern Michigan and she wrote earlier this week that she slipped and fell on a patch of ice that was covered in snow and severely damaged her left hand. I’m really wary of walking in Winter for that reason. So easy to slide on glare ice, and I imagine with your cold there, you are getting it as well. (You being from Michigan can show them how to drive though.) I’m a Winter Weenie because when I worked on site, it was Downtown Detroit, and I always took the bus. Now working from home, I’m really turning into a little old lady with my driving habits. 🙂

LOL.. yeah, I am 43 now… I drive the speed limit and let the speed demons fly by now.
There are so many mountain roads around here. Just a little bit of ice makes driving so very dangerous. If even just a few snowflakes fall, schools close and all milk, bread and lunch meats disappear from the store, lol.
Ice can be a killer… My wife hurt herself pretty bad a few years back and my own tailbone has seen some bruises, lol.

I’ve got almost twenty years over you and now, a bad fall could break a bone and land me in the hospital for a long time, so I am extra careful. Speed demons … we sure have them, plus the potholes too … you could take you and your car out in no time flat. My friend who lives in Cary, North Carolina is from Michigan and she does laugh at the milk, bread and such disappearing from the store shelves at the first flakes. She figures she is a trooper at driving, but was a teacher for years before retiring and all the buses will run two or three hours later to wait until it warms up. I’ve taken a few tumbles on the ice myself back in the day … usually I was dressed in lots of layers or a puffy coat as I’d be waiting on the bus, so I didn’t get hurt.

That is my number one goal in life at the moment! STAY OUT OF HOSPITALS!! lol…

Do that, and not just because of the flu. The woman who wrote about falling on the ice was happy because her teenaged son had an oncologist appointment and was given a clean bill of health, and then she took a tumble later that afternoon. I don’t know the particulars of his illness … I only started following her after someone remarked about her post on our Michigan Meteor event.
