Aloof – #Wordless Wednesday

About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy. I hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

I had more pictures in the series Cathy, but they all looked the same. Each bird would turn around and the other was staring the other way, so they turned back around again. It was pretty funny.

Yes, they both were full of attitude and maybe would have a change of heart and turn around and look at the other one who was staring into space. The bird on the right had its beak open like it was mumbling. They made me smile and worked perfectly for Wordless Wednesday, the first prompt I’ve ever done.

I have never done a prompt. Maybe I’ll try it sometime.

That was the first time I’d done a prompt Laurie. Because of the nature of my blog I don’t always stray from walking, though the Woodstock post I did and at the holidays sometimes I do. I have seen a few people do the Wordless Wednesday and it is on Twitter as well, so post with hashtag #WordlessWednesday if you do it.

Glad you liked it Joni! I’ve seen that Wordless Wednesday prompt for a while, but never have done it, or any other prompt, due to the nature of my blog being more about walking and what I see while walking – the other prompts don’t always fit in. Remember Hugh from Hugh’s News and Views? I’ve been following him awhile now and he often does this on Wednesday … I thought these birds did look like they were having a spat … the bird on the right has its beak slightly open – I took that to be mumbling. 🙂 I had more pics in the “series” as I watched them about five minutes, but they were so similar I eliminated them. They kept turning around as if to make amends … it made me laugh. I pondered over what to call the post and was going to call it either “The Bickersons” after that comic strip (and the radio show from long ago) but I thought the younger followers might not be familiar with that married couple who fought all the time. Then I thought “Morning Mouth?” … and finally decided the pictures needed no words. I should do it more often as it was fun and quick to put together.

It was quick and entertaining, and as you probably have more pictures than you can use, a good way to work them in.

Thank you Joni, and I think going forward if I have a critter picture that is unusual and needs no caption, I will remember that. I have to go through my pictures taken the past month and re-organize them. Unbelievably, I haven’t even looked at last Saturday’s photos yet – that is a first waiting almost a week, but I was gone all day taking pics and there will be lots to sort through.

  8. Hahaha this is so funny yet all I could think of was the movie “The Birds”.

They were just like people for goodness sake – they turned back to look at their mate or friend, and the other one wasn’t looking so they swiveled their head around, then the other one did it. They did it multiple times and I didn’t include all the pictures in the series – it made me laugh.
