About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy.     I loved the title and the arrangement of photos. I’d be a cone-head if I hadn’t enjoyed it.

      Thanks Anne – very clever! I saw so many cones and Coneflowers this Summer, it seemed like a topic begging to be posted. They are finally finished the construction near my house – it has been a mess for six weeks.

        Thank you Anne – I have taken so many pictures this Summer, during the week or on the weekend, that I have come home and written a draft of that day’s trek or written myself notes as to how I am going to divvy the photos up later. In some cases I have been making two or three posts out of one morning’s trek. I have three long treks of photos that I have not even looked at the photo card yet. I’ve been making the most out of the sunny, albeit warm, days as I know Winter will put a kibosh on walking many days.

    Nothing like orange barrels to make for a good photo shoot. The flowers are pretty. Cheerful.

      Yes, the orange barrels are everywhere Ally. Finally, they finished their project on my street. The beep, beep, beep of the construction equipment and loud jack hammers all day drove me to distraction! I love Coneflowers – you don’t see the white or dark pink ones too much so I was happy to get shots of them.

      I really dropped the ball on that topic! Didn’t you do a post about an ice-cream place that you and Bill stop at all the time? I think it was you. We have Calder’s Dairy and Bob-Jo’s Frozen Yogurt. People line up around the block for their frozen treats.

      Ann Marie – I would rather be able to spotlight only flowers and have no construction … do you think there will ever be a day that no construction will exist anywhere?

    The traffic cones just got removed from the streets near my office this afternoon. So these don’t bring fond memories. But the make it better. 🙂

      Our cones have languished there, though everything is seemingly back in place (finally, after six or seven weeks). My neighbor is mad because they put big signs with sand bags to anchor them on his lawn (City property) which he has gotten weed-free and as green as in Springtime.

    excellent mix of cones and coneflowers this was brilliant- and you know – the corked cones and other angles gave them a flower like appearance – this was just so creative – and you get a gold star for it – I mean – let’s make it a gold cone – hahahah
