About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy. I hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

Glad you liked it Sandra – I had to return here and edit the post as I was concerned people would not notice the “Click here” if they were in Reader. I love these cards too. This is the first time I embedded a Jacquie Lawson card inside a blog post and I hoped it worked okay. I sent it to myself, then cut-and-pasted the link in. Happy Halloween! 🙂

Glad you liked it Joni – Happy Halloween. Good luck getting pictures of the moon tonight. You can stay up late and get an extra hour’s sleep … a win-win!

I did not actually see the moon tonight, it was too cloudy, but I did a short Halloween post with some pics of a neighbourhood display – there were more ghosts and goblins about than I thought tonight, but we don’ have any COVID cases here at present. These were little ones under the age of ten with their parents. It was nice to hear the sounds of kids having fun outside for a change!

I didn’t look out – I kept hearing them talking about what a big moon it was last night. Right now it is snowing in downtown Detroit – so likely snowing a little here as well as it’s only 12 miles away. It is still very windy and has been clocked nearby at Metro Airport at 35 mph – another airport had 55 mph earlier. I am really behind here again – I didn’t get here until late as I was putting away groceries from the last few weeks – that took the entire day and now messy in here.and now have not been to Reader since Thursday. I didn’t go to the Facebook City Forum today, but yesterday there were lots of people passing out candy and were surprised how many kids they had.

    Happy Halloween to you too!
I’ve got the treats, I’ve got the pumpkins carved, I’ve got the decorations! Now all I need is some trick-or-treaters at the door. Of course, we haven’t had kids coming to the door for the whole time we’ve lived here – so we buy treats we like to eat, deliver some to friends and family, and eat the rest…

Thank you Margy! I looked on our Facebook City Forum and there were a lot of trick-or-treaters out which surprised me … I thought people would be leery for their kids to go out due to the pandemic, but apparently not. That’s the way to do it – YOUR favorite treats!

Yes, the black squirrel was spooky when the flash made his eyes go golden – I figured I’d keep it for Halloween. It’s a squirrelly night alright Ann Marie … full moon, second one this month and the clocks go back one hour. Much weirdness abounds!

Glad you liked it Barbara – I love Jacquie Lawson’s cards and thought it would be fun to embed one in my Halloween post. I may do it for other holidays as well. That squirrel was a flash misfire – the black squirrels always have yellow eyes, the Fox squirrels and gray squirrels seem to have red eyes, so I decided to keep the shot and have some fun with it. 🙂

Thank you for the Halloween card, Linda! My son has a little black cat who looks just like the smaller cat in the video. Her name is Mavis and they got her on Halloween 2 years ago! 🙂

You’re welcome Laurie. I like the Jacquie Lawson cards and thought it would be fun to include on with my squirrel with the weird eyes. Did you forward the link to your son for a smile? How fun to get a black cat on Halloween, the spookiest night of the year.
