About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy. I hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

Glad you enjoyed them Ally and thank you! A fellow blogger just said Parker was probably drinking peanut butter beer and I didn’t know there was peanut butter beer. She send a link – some funny names for the various beers. To use a cliché “you learn something new every day.”

  4. I’m waiting till Parker falls asleep from the beer and stealing his pot of Gold! Maybe I’ll leave a bag of peanuts?

Do help contribute to Parker’s cause, especially since the geese have been swiping goodies lately. A fellow blogger commented that Parker might be drinking peanut butter beer – I didn’t know they made beer from peanut butter. She sent a link and there are several and fun names for them too.

      • The squirrels in the yard are out and about more now. There is a pretty gray one that is really pert and lively! 🙂

We only started getting the gray and black squirrels a few years ago – before it was just the Fox squirrels. I think the gray ones are pretty with their coloring, but they are so shy … except Grady, the gray squirrel I wrote about in many posts. He was a character, along with his pals and I enjoyed feeding them every day … all six are gone now thanks to the local Cooper’s Hawk and I still feel sick about it. They all disappeared around Easter last year. The geese and ducks at the Park have taken to eating the sunflower seeds and peanuts I put out for the squirrels and birds. This is something that just started this week. I tried standing there until the squirrels and birds get their share, but they walk right up in front of me. Every critter for itself it seems!

Awww…Parker makes an adorable leprechaun. Just make sure he doesn’t drink too many St. Paddy’s Day beers!

Ha ha – Parker would be like that squirrel video that made the rounds a few years ago. The squirrel was eating fermented berries off a bush and kept falling out of the tree.
