This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy.       Thanks Jessica – I caught Mr./Ms. Goose at an awkward angle, but it made for a fun Wordless Wednesday post! I hope people still buy/stand under mistletoe, otherwise readers will think I’ve lost my mind!

      Yes I did Laurie! I was thinking about this goose with the crooked neck as well as you – the consequences of too many kisses under the mistletoe! (Is mistletoe even a thing anymore?)

      Yes! She gave me a rather pained look when I was taking the photo … hopefully it was because I caught her with grass in her beak and not because she had hurt her neck. I hope your family all got back to their destinations after a nice visit? Did the grandchildren get to the park – by the time the cold was over, it was likely muddy!

        Everybody got home safe and sound. We never got to the playground, it was just too bitterly cold. We did feed a few clams to the gulls at the beach but we only lasted there about ten minutes. However, we had fun inside with puzzles and drawing pictures and baking cookies, so we made the best of it!

        That’s good news Barbara. At least by then the weather had gotten better for travel and you did make the best of it cozying up inside the house. Puzzles, drawing pictures and baking cookies sounds relaxing and fun to me.
