About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy. I hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

Thanks Dan – Seagulls are very patient, until I creep closer. Then they have tolerated me long enough and fly away. Glad you like the title. I like having some fun with Wordless Wednesday posts. 🙂

A beautiful seagull. Looks like you found a bird with an attitude too. 🙂

Yes, it was actually very patient and posed for a long time Rebecca. Then it tired of me and flew away. 🙂 This seagull swiveled its head around with a challenging look. I think your Egret was more menacing looking (and sounding).

Looks like a puffed-out chest in the first photo, but then happy to pose for the rest of them. Way to wear him down!

Dave, I’m glad you saw that puffed-out chest and defiant look (or would it be a look of disdain) as I snapped away. I think the critters line up and say “pass it on – Linda is at the Boardwalk taking pictures for her blog – get over there and pose!”

Thanks Tom – I can’t resist taking pictures of seagulls. They pose so nicely and only move when you move a wee bit too close to them. There is nothing like going down to the Detroit River boardwalk and watching them glide, swoop and dive … you could be anywhere, a seashore, beach locale … there they are.

He is handsome or is it she is pretty? I cannot tell the men from the women.

I enjoy the camera capture of your zoom lens seeing from eye to toe nail. I never knew seagulls had toe nails!

Love the balance beam. Best photo for me is the last one where it looks like it might slip off the rail. But not a chance of that happening, it’s so smart!
