About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy. I hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

Thank you Barbara – same back at you! P.S. Believe it or not, this graffiti was in the middle of the woods. I will show how the rest of the graffiti looked in a post in March. It was extensive.

Still reminds me of the 60s (even though I was too young to remember) but never more appropriate a message than now.

Yes, well at 67 years old, I can remember the peace symbols especially – my parents who were not into “mod” (dare I use that word) jewelry, allowed me to use my allowance to buy a peace symbol on a leather lanyard to be like everyone else. 🙂 That is for sure Dave – we all could “put a little love in our hearts” these days.

How lucky for me to stumble upon some graffiti in the middle of a woodsy area amd the first time at this venue (coincidentally part of Heritage Park, site of Monday’s walk, but not really on the Heritage Park campus). Happy Valentine’s Day back at you Terri!

Same here Wayne and this graffiti was in the middle of the woods, a new part of Heritage Park I had never explored. There was more graffiti, but this was my favorite and something you would not expect to see in the middle of the woods. I did visit my furry friends this morning – took suet and peanuts, seeds, suet balls and peanut chips. The last two or three items were for the birds, especially the Chickadees. Happy Valentine’s Day back at you Wayne!

I’m not a fan of graffiti either Laurie, but this really stood out and I knew it would be perfect this Valentine’s Day post. There was more graffiti than this on some cement blocks in the middle of the woods. First time there for me and I was surprised to see it. Since then someone posted about seeing “Turkey Tail Fungi” in the same woods – I didn’t see that, but it was very cool looking.

  12. We need a lot of peace and love… in our gun-riddled, mass-shooting, currently insane society.

That is for sure Tom … the line from the old song “what the world needs now is love sweet love” would be a good mantra for our society today, but sadly that will never happen.
