Polish birds vs American birds – how can you tell the difference? 🙂

Hmm – that is a loaded question, so I will defer to you for the answer JP. 🙂

Thank you Debbie! (Something interesting about the title re: WP quirks … if I put a hashtag and no space and then a left quotation mark, WordPress turns the quotation mark backward, but it only appears like that in final, not in the draft. I know you appreciate these little computer quirks, like you told me about the “shoulder shrug” and the embedded YouTube on your site. I didn’t notice it in view mode, but saw it after it published. I went back in and put a space before the hashtag and it works. Looks dumb but the quote was backward like each bird’s head!]

That’s for sure Ann Marie – those talons look lethal!

Thanks Terri! Good thing there was more than one pole by the look of that Osprey!

The looks on their faces match your title perfectly. I think the gull is sadly out of luck.

That’s for sure Rebecca. That some scowl on the osprey when the gull dared to look its way.

Thank you Diane! It was funny watching these two and I thought about the title as I watched them that day. The Seagull was glancing at the Osprey and the Osprey seemed to be scowling back! I’ll have more Osprey shots this Sunday.

Great photos, Linda! Yikes, that Gull might be for dinner. He (or she) better be ready to flee quickly.

Thank you Tom! My post this Sunday will be about the Osprey platform nest at the DNR Headquarters for Pointe Mouillee. I went there because I knew there were three fledglings in the nest as I follow a few photographers who go there looking for Osprey photo ops. So this was one of the youngsters, but he is really scowling at the Seagull – it never dawned on me that the Osprey might be considering the Osprey as a dinner meal until reading your comment, but it sure makes sense!

great title for the post and the patina on the poles is very interesting – and great bird portraits – it is like they posed

Thanks Yvette! I took these photos while I was near the Osprey nest which will be the topic of my post today. These two birds sure do look as if they posed and they looked really angry with one another. In retrospect, I wish I’d done a collage-type pic, side-by-side as they stared at one another. I don’t know what the poles are for – they are in various locations in the water but yes, the patina, as well as the rust made for an interesting shot.

oh the collage idea sounds like it would have been good – but I still liked the post as is

I guess you’re right Yvette … I wanted to ensure people could tell they were indeed looking at one another … in the case of the Osprey, more like “glaring” at one another. Osprey never look happy. Ducks always seem happy to me – these guys, not so much!

wow – you are right – ducks do kind of seem happy – and then the Osprey – well maybe it is their eyes that make them seem like they are not happy – or distant? Beautiful eyes – but also the shape is a bit serious

Ducks always look like they’re content when you see them – I do think it’s the piercing orange eyes of the Osprey, the menacing look they give you.
