BADGES

What a fun photograph!

Thank you Anne, I’m glad you liked it. It amazes me when I see the wingspan of these seagulls, who are not all that large.

That’s a dramatic photograph!

I know! That gull really swooped in, but was too low and missed the big rock entirely. It was not hurt, as it flew away a few minutes later, probably hoping none of the other gulls saw him.

I’m sure this seagull looked around to see if any of his brethren saw that bad landing!

An angel comes to mind here, or at least, our earthly image of an angel. The wings are at just the right angle. Maybe this gull was heaven-sent?

That’s interesting Dave as I never equated the wings with an angel, but yes, maybe it was heaven-sent? This poor gull misjudged where it planned to perch. But it was not injured and flew off (hoping no other gulls saw what he/she did).

Great capture! 👌 A slight miscalculation on the gull’s part. 😆

Thank you Debbie! Yes, it was a definite “oops” but it recovered quickly and flew away.

Poor gull! He’s not a baby, so maybe he is sick or old. You were at the right place at the right time to take that picture!

Yes, I was lucky to get this photo Laurie. It happened so quickly, but this gull was able to perch on a lower boulder and then it flew away, red-faced if any other gulls saw what he/she did. 🙂

Haha! Sometimes I wonder if animals feel embarrassment. Gosh knows they do some pretty silly things sometimes.

Yes, it was funny Janis as the gull wasn’t injured and took off a few minutes later from a lower boulder (before any other gulls saw it). I wonder if animals feel embarrassed too. I was at the Park once and a Blue Jay swooped down for a peanut and miscalculated the distance to beat the squirrel taking it and the Jay smacked into a tree. It bounced off, landed on the ground, stunned, but then went for the peanut a minute later.

It would be a good time to dry off if you landed in the water wouldn’t it Ann Marie. This was taken at Elizabeth Park along the boardwalk back in the Fall.

You do that a lot. You also have an eye for nature!

Thank you! Sometimes it is just pure look like that, especially with birds since they don’t always stay long in one place. Today’s post will be bees and butterflies … that plant I may have mentioned that was at the Lake Erie Metropark Grow Zone, Virginia Mountain Mint. It was a butterfly and bee magnet. I came home with a lot of photos, but not that many I could actually use as it was a bit windy and the butterflies had a difficult time staying in place. I have the rest of the walk another time as it was really only Egrets.

great shot and the open wings with the contrast and also harmony with the rocks was stunning here

Thank you Yvette! I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time, strolling along the boardwalk at the Detroit River.

Yes, you never know what you’ll see here Yvette. I always get a few Seagull shots, usually just them sitting along the Boardwalk, not a Seagull who needs flying lessons. 🙂

They surely feel embarrassed and try to hide what’s wrong with them. And they are quite aware of others. There was the time when i gave Tweetie (the Yellow Nape) a sweet potato fry, and she immediately dropped it. And i said, “You are so rotten spoiled.” And then she said, “So are you.” 😉

I don’t doubt that at all Tom as animals and birds don’t want to be seen as sick or helpless. So this seagull wasn’t hurt that I could tell as it landed on a boulder below and then took off … quickly I might add. Your birds have always amazed me with their intelligence, but then you have encouraged that by letting them watch “Sesame Street” or interacting with them all the time. I’m sure you were taken aback at what Tweety said! My mom was in the kitchen 90% of her day and she interacted with our birds all day long. The two parakeets we had, at different times, each had a good vocabulary. The one we named “Joey” couldn’t pronounce the letter “J” so every time he said his name it came out like “Y” so “Yoey”. Pets give us so much enjoyment.

V is for Victory! Or maybe for Vexed?

Gee, take your pick JP as they both work. I actually thought that seagull would careen into that boulder, so vexed … but it took off a few minutes later, so victory. I think it was mortified if its peers had seen what it did – as to me seeing it, I was just the human attached to the camera and didn’t count.
