BADGES

The last few days have had the prettiest clouds.

Yes, it’s so nice to see sun and puffy clouds again!

And I bet you smiled too! Love the reflections of the sky. What a beautiful capture, Linda.

Thank you Pepper! It’s like a double treat … first you see the puffy clouds and blue sky and then there’s the reflection.

Yes, I felt like I had to go out and seize the day and the sunshine as it had been awhile with the smoke and rain.

I love the blue sky, but you can keep the water. My area has seen quite enough of it to last us awhile!

That sure is the truth for you. I know you have had lots of flooding there and I’ve seen videos of it. I was surprised you didn’t mention it in your list of annoyances from your last post. Meanwhile, in my area almost daily they call for rain and/or storms – when we get a storm, it is torrential rain.

Thank you Linda – it was nice to see a pretty blue sky and puffy clouds in two places after it being gray, rainy and smoky.

After waiting so long for blue skies and puffy clouds, it was a treat to see them above and on the water too … twice as nice!

I’m sorry to ask Linda, but did my Beach Blog show up in your feed? Some comments are showing up on cell phone on my gmail account, which I don’t use or reply to there, but are not here on WP?

Joni – no, it did not show up in my feed today, so I looked on your actual site and I see it “Beach Baby” … I will read it now and comment. This is NOT the first time I have had posts not show up in Reader. A woman I’ve followed for years and posts a couple of times a week but not on specific days wasn’t posting, so I went there thinking she was ill and she had posted about five times and I found I was unsubscribed. JP’s blog posts have not shown up a couple of times and since I know he posts Fridays I just go and read the post at his site, but then I always find out I got unsubscribed. This happened to JP getting unsubscribed from my blog too. I am sure if I ask WP, they will tell me it is because I am using an old theme. I told you first they told me I had to change my background, which I did, then I changed it to floral (similar to what I had before), then one day it was bright pink, so I went to change it back and found out that was my new default. I’m not keen on spending a lot of time to change my theme as I like the simplicity of this one. I feel badly as you posted this a week ago… I will go and read it now. It looks fun!

Thanks Linda…..I have an old theme too, so that might be the problem.

I’ll take those blue skies and puffy clouds any day over the hazy sunshine here, Linda! I bet it was nice to get out again 🙂

There is nothing like a sunny day with puffy clouds Terri. Yes, it was nice to get out again and this was the first day that the air quality was good and the sky was blue. I went to two big parks that day and there were so many people, most of them just commenting to others/strangers about how nice it was to be outside again.

The pretty blue skies and clouds as I remember them from years ago – no smoke, or constantly gray skies … it was the first day after days of haze and gray.

Yes, it’s been nice Anne. We have had a pretty good week before a stormy day Saturday. I hope it settles down for Fall, my favorite season.

Thank you Esther! It was the first day after a string of hazy and gray days in a long time and a welcome sight to see the blue skies and puffy clouds like that.

Oh yes! Enjoy it as much as you can. Fall is right around the corner. I know you will get some beautiful and glorious foliage changing colors.

Fall has always been my favorite season Esther. I am looking forward to it more and more each year as our Summers have been so hot and humid and just not a lot of fun, especially this year’s weather. We had a lot of severe weather too and even if the predicted severe weather does not come to fruition, there is the angst about it beforehand. I was out today making the most of a good weather day … I walked a lot, got lots of fresh air and some fun pictures.

So many rainy and cloudy bad days lately (that makes being in the sun a radiation bombardment). Be very careful, Linda, about sunny days when one is by water. Be sure to wear good UVA and UVB sunglasses. It is way too easy to damage the eyes.

The weather has been a little better this week Tom, but poor air quality unfortunately (though you wouldn’t know it to look at the sky as it’s blue).
This year I got prescription sunglasses for the first time ever. I’ve always just relied on the transition lenses, but decided on the recommendation of the eye doctor – he knows I am out and about, often near the water. I am otherwise covered top-to-toe with sun protection clothing and a sun protection hat with a back flap. About a month ago I was near the water and the deer flies were bad – my first encounter with deer flies at this park or any park. Only the females bite, just like mosquitoes; they were swarming around me about mid-way through the trail. I pushed my one long sleeve up as I could see one deer fly had gone up my sleeve and bitten me as it was itchy. I had my sleeve up maybe one half-hour and by night I had burned red on the top of my arm.
I’ll tell you that going out on hikes is no picnic anymore – we have had a human Eastern Equine Encephalitis mosquito bite yesterday in Roscommon (the first human bitten in five years and bites can have deadly consequences); we have had a couple of West Nile Virus mosquito bites in Wayne County (where I live) and two rattlesnakes at two different Metroparks – one the man found a Mississauga rattler in his boat and the other rattlesnake bit a little girl. Oh joy for all these things Tom.
I hope that I don’t just resort to a treadmill one day.

I love how the sky and reflection of the sky anchor the photo to the left and middle and then all the front and right has that arch in the green. I really like the composition and glad you took a hike

Thank you Yvette! It was such a beautiful day and my first time out (on a walk, not just with the camera) in over a week, if not longer, due to the weather and smoky skies. I love reflections and this was special to see all the clouds on the water!

I really liked the reflections that day Ann Marie – it was the first day out after that long period of time that it was so hot, gray and we had the poor air quality from all the smoky skies. This was taken at one of the overlooks at Lake Erie Metropark.

Thanks Susan! This was the first day I got out after the gray/smoky skies cleared and everyone else had the same idea. There were people everywhere and it reminded me of the first really warm day of Spring, where you open your coat or loop it around your waist and feel the sun on your face.

Spring is my second favourite season, after Fall. I love the Fall and I know you do too.

Yes, Spring is great after our too-long Winter … all the new growth, colors after all the drab landscape. In 2026 I feel like we were cheated out of both Spring and Summer, so I’m hoping Mother Nature gives us a glorious Fall to make up for it!

Yes! I also feel like we were cheated out of spring and summer so I agree with you, I hope Fall is fabulous

Me too! Right now at 7:39 p.m. it is 91 degrees – sickening heat, humidity/dew points. Parts of Michigan are having severe weather right now – I hope it fizzles out soon, before dark at any rate.
