BADGES

Turtles lined up in a row, love it, the picture goes perfectly with the title too!

Shelley, I saw these bathing beauties mid-Summer and decided on the post title as I snapped their photo. I could have used a wide-angle lens as there were a few more turtles, but I had to crop the photo or they’d have looked like “ants on a log” instead. 🙂

As always, I’m impressed that you come up with a title before you even create the post! 😃

Thank you! It’s almost like a game … I tucked it away for this week. 🙂

The perfect sunbathing destination!

Yes, they like lining up on that log, often by seniority and if they catch sight of me, they plop off one by one!

I love to see them lined up on a log. Unfortunately, if spooked, it only takes about two seconds for them to all disappear.

You’re so right about that Rebecca. It amazes me, as I’ll try to take a photo and be very quiet, but they plop into the water when they see the whites of my eyes!

Love the photo of the sliders lined up on the log! And…now I have that Sheryl Crow song “I’m gonna soak up the sun…” stuck in my head! 🙂

Thanks Laurie – it is difficult to keep them lined up without plopping into the water once they see me. These turtles were lost in thought I guess, so I got one shot in before they got spooked. I thought of that song right away as I took the photo and decided it would be the title of this post. I probably left everyone with an earworm without even hearing the music! 🙂

Fantastic photography. Beautiful Turtles sitting on the tree branch. May be soak.

Thank you Raj – those turtles are all different sizes and line up to sunbathe. Once they see you, they immediately slide off the log into the water.

Yes, they different size & line upto sunbathe. I like. But good arrangement line up. Really they saw me. !
Thanks,Linda!

Yes, maybe by seniority/pecking order. 🙂

Forget ducks, you got your turtles in a row. 😁

And they posed for about 30 seconds Ally. I usually see them, then as I take the photo, they all plop into the water. I like that … turtles in a row instead of ducks in a row. 🙂

I would’ve expected a photo of a “Sheryl” crow instead 🙂

You know Dave, I actually have a picture of a crow on a sunny day taken last weekend … I was saving it for Halloween, but I should have used it here instead of my turtle friends. There were even more turtles, but I had to crop the shot or they would have looked like ants on a log. I thought of you when I did this post as you liked the turtles at Heritage Park sunbathing on their ramp. 🙂

Oh yes, I was still very happy to see the turtles instead of a Sheryl.

I remembered you liked turtles Dave … they look peaceful when basking in the sunshine.

I always love seeing them basking in the sun.

Me too Dan – they look so peaceful, then when they see you they plop into the water and I always feel I’ve interrupted THEIR serenity.

Nice way to end the summer posts, Linda. This weekend is officially Fall and I’m ready for it to cool down here.

Thank you TD. I got the turtle shot mid-Summer and picked the title as I took the photo, thinking I’d use it as we transition to Fall (thankfully for me too, although we sure haven’t had the scorching hot temps like you have endured). Fall has always been my favorite season, even though it means Winter is just around the corner.

Miss Linda……………………………………..I miss seeing turtles…………………………….they’re soaking up the sun……………………………they’re smarter than we are………………………thank you

Well Ann Marie, we have some more hot weather for awhile they say, so the turtles will sunbathe some more before hibernating at the bottom of the marsh. Meanwhile, you and I will do that addition and subtraction thing with our outfits we wear for walking over the next few weeks.

Looks like they’re playing leapfrog, oh wait leap turtle. 🤣

You’re right Diane – that just what it looks like. If they miss, they fall into the water, but they usually do that anyway if they see a human. 🙂

Great pic, Linda! All are facing one way (and one way only). Such is our society (for the most part).

Love it so much, so relaxed as if the world around them could wait.

I agree Barbara – it’s very peaceful to see them sunbathing. But, once they catch sight of a human, one by one they plop into the water – tranquility for them is over.

I love the turtles – it’s a good thing they stay on the log, because it keeps them out of the soup.

They sure are peaceful sunning themselves on the log aren’t they? They are safe there, although their fear of ending up in the soup is why they plop into the water just as soon as they see any humans come too close.
