BADGES

and a fluffy tail

Yes! Very fluffy Brian and in the Winter when it’s brutally cold or snowing hard, the squirrels flick their tail to cover their back and over their head to keep warm. 🙂

What a sweet treat!! That pose is so gluttonous. 😆

Yes, wasn’t it lucky to get that strawberry? It was huge and I told that munchkin not to put strawberry juice on its white front. It sure looked happy!

Yes, very lucky and probably very happy as well!

What a lucky squirrel! I wonder if someone handed out fresh berries to some of your squirrel friends or it was a happy accident. It must have been extra nice during this cold season where they don’t get a lot of fresh. I think he’s wondering if you’re going to try to take it from him.

It was so cute Zazzy! I do think it was giving me the side-eye like I would take it from under its nose. I know that in late September/early October, someone kept dropping off different types of squash and sweet corn and leaving them around the Park. I guessed at that time they shut down their garden and had all the leftovers and so took them there. They got eaten too. Some pumpkins brought there after Halloween were also eaten by the squirrels. I’m thinking a walker must have brought this treat, although I didn’t see any other squirrels with strawberries. I hoped it didn’t drop strawberry pieces or juice on its bright white fur and stain it.

Indeed, someone gifted it something even better than a walnut or peanut!

Oh my, that tail goes on for miles. It’s a wonder he/she doesn’t trip over it!

Isn’t that amazing Dave? That gray squirrel is not all that big to have such a luxurious, long, furry tail like that. When I took the picture I thought “well I hope it doesn’t move as it is sitting there with a perfect pose, between the tail stretched out and daintily eating the strawberry.” 🙂

I would rather have a strawberry any day! There is another kind soul in your vicinity dispensing treats to your squirrels?

That strawberry looked delicious Laurie! I was surprised to see the squirrel(s) have another benefactor doling out treats to them and a generous treat at that – this was in October, so not from their garden. I figured people would think it was my doing, so I had to come clean!

TD, I am sure that squirrel thought I had designs on its treat – it was a huge strawberry as you can see in the picture and that little guy/gal looked very delighted to have it. 🙂

Yum! I would definitely choose a strawberry over a sugarplum any day!

Yes, those Eastern gray squirrels are so cute Terri and he/she was excited to have scored such a sweet treat! I hope it didn’t get strawberry juice on its white fur. 🙂

Yes and it looked pretty pleased with itself for being so lucky. 🙂
I am glad it enjoyed it and didn’t try to bury it. The squirrels are still burying peanuts … they’ll grab a nut, run with it and bury it, then return to eat another one.

I didn’t know that squirrels liked strawberries either Esther. We had some people going to the Park in the Fall and I guess they had taken their veggie gardens down, so they were leaving ears of corn, squash, zucchini and the squirrels were happily munching on those goodies.
