BADGES

Sometimes at this time of year, it seems like every flower, every shrub, every tree is scarred, frayed, torn, and blighted.
You are almost 2/3 of the way to your goal. I’m sure when the cool weather hits in September/October, you will get out there and pile up the miles.

Yes, that is so true Laurie. Butterflies, especially around this time of year, (if we see them), often have tattered wings. I was starting to think it might be a problem for my mileage but yes, the cooler weather will be better for bulking up on the miles. This humidity and heat has been off the charts, but you know that if you and Bill are running every day and I suspect you are.

Thank you Kate! I’ll be glad to see cooler temps which I hear will happen for the holiday weekend – yay!

That’s a lot of walking! I admire your stamina. 👌 After all this heat, much in nature is looking bedraggled. 😟

Thank you Debbie! Every year I set a goal to walk at least one more mile than the previous year. When we were rolling over to a new decade, a Canadian blogger challenged me to walk even more miles by setting a goal to walk equivalent to the year in kilometers, so 2,020 was 1,255 miles. I’m feeling as bedraggled as these flowers from this heat wave, so I’m looking forward to cooler weather.

Thank you Dave! I feel like these not-so-fresh-as-a-daisy Daisies … bedraggled and worn and waiting to be revived by Fall!

They look like how I feel! You’re making good progress with the miles in spite of the weather.

Same here Barbara – the heat and humidity just zaps you the minute you step out the door. I’m surprised I’m that far along in my miles too, but every time we had good weather, especially those rare bouts of cooler weather, I’d push myself to get more miles in, but a lot of rain and high winds has been a pain this season. I look forward to Fall and some nice “Walktober” walks.

You got some good “before and afters” here in those sunflowers, Linda! Wow, all those steps! You’ll get there!

Thank you Terri! I saw them and said to myself “perfect to use on a sweltering hot day when I feel just as wilted as they are.” With the cooler months ahead and my favorite meteorologist’s prediction of no snow until December, I am hopeful to reach my goal once again this year!

The weather is just too weird for me these days JP. We had horrible weather Tuesday night and the same tomorrow. I cannot wait for cooler weather to arrive!

I love sunflowers and these have seen better days but it is getting to the end of the season for them.

They did look a little pitiful and worn out.

I came hone from 4 days camping in the UP to find many of my zinnias flattened by the storm that blew through here. I’m sad.

I’m sorry to read that Dawn – I’m guessing that was from Tuesday’s storm which was wicked and widespread with winds around 75 mph and multiple bouts of torrential rain. We were supposed to have severe weather in SE Michigan but St. Clair County got hit the worst – we were unscathed around here.

We’ve actually had a relatively mild summer. (Well, mild for Georgia.) Still, I’m ready for cooler weather and am loving the “sneak peeks” that we’re having.

I’m ready for cooler weather too Linda. We are cooling off dramatically for two days, at least 20 degrees cooler than we’ve been in this heat wave, plus we’ve had a lot of volatile weather. Fall is looking pretty good right now.

I’m sure these sunflowers were gorgeous when they were in full bloom, but now they seem to be tiring out for the new season.

Yes, they were getting a mite bedraggled looking by the time I saw them. All the heat we’ve had probably, but then we have had many bouts of torrential rain, that would have boosted them up too. The wildflowers in the parks seem to be thriving on this Summer’s weather since the only TLC they get is courtesy of Mother Nature.

The volatile weather has been a bit much!! Flowers just having a good day and then, boom, torrential rain the next.

We are now almost in drought-like conditions – the weatherman said we’d had 0.06 inches of rain in September. It got to the mid-80s today. Weather is crazy and trees are stressed so leaves are already fluttering down.

Nature must be so confused and stressed out, as we humans are with the weather!!
