Hi Brian – that is what I counted too, but it was difficult to count with so many necks!

37, yup, 37!

Hi Selma – I had 36, but more like 36 1/2, which was a partial Egret, so I am thinking you counted him/her as number 37. Wasn’t that fun to try and count them with all the reflections of those long necks?

Oh, that was so much fun. Reminded me of counting yarning stitches (knitting) and how much it calmed me. Enjoyed the exercise. And you’re right: I saw only its neck and counted it as one more. Bless you. Thanks for the fun. Have a tremendous rest of the week regardless of what’s happening around that touches us all. All. Here’s looking at you 💞 🤗

Well Selma, I hope I can find more reflections and we can do it again – at the rate this mild and nice weather is going, it might mean many more trips to big parks like this one. We had almost 70 degrees again today – unheard of for November 6th! There are a lot of things swirling around us these days and it is best to look at nature because there is where you will find peace. Here’s looking at you as well!

Yes, is was amazing to see them, plus their reflections – such a pretty scene to come upon Barbara. I love seeing reflections on the water.

I hope I s 40 up around Egret Reflection 🪞.

Well I counted 36 Egrets Raj … 37 if you want to count one partial Egret body. I’ll bet you counted some of the reflections as an Egret, which was easy to do since the reflections were so clear.

Yes, Linda you are right, iam wrong. I add the reflection Egret! So sorry 🙏

No problem at all Raj – hopefully I’ll find some more reflection photos and we can try this again. It was very difficult to distinguish between the real Egrets and the reflection.

Thanks,Linda, don’t mind. I try again when you again reflection Post.

Yes, you’re right Kate … it was a pre-migration party and they discussed their accommodations and favorite fish joints!

Miss Linda……………………………it’s niceto see a lot of white Egrets
LikeLiked by 2 people
They sure were a blur of white Ann Marie – that blur of white, along with the reflections on the water, made it difficult to tell exactly how many Egrets were there. I am glad you liked the photos.

Cool series of egrets, Linda! Like they kept multiplying with every frame!

Is an egret’s reflection that looks like a second egret called a regret?
LikeLiked by 2 people
Yes, especially if it woke up with “bed head” and forgot to use a little feather gel to tame it – it then said “that’s not me” in denial. 🙂

My eyes crossed trying to see the answer to this question so I’ll go with 42, the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.

Well Ally, 42 was a little high … it was difficult to separate fact from fiction here with those very long necks. 🙂

They are such beautiful creatures! Great shots, Linda!
I will reflect on what the answer might be, then i’ll get back to you. 😉

Thank you very much Tom – I am glad you liked them! I agree, the Egrets are so graceful and it was doubly nice to see them with their reflections. You are clever!

Wow, you hit the jackpot with these photos!! These birds understood the assignment of how to pose for candid photos.

Thank you Esther! They cooperated so I took take their poses … I like that and no peanuts (or fish – ugh) were necessary!

They cooperated…you have a way with these animals. I am the worst when it comes to taking pictures of birds. They scatter when they see me!

Thank you Esther – it helped that they were so busy “chattin’ it up” with one another that they didn’t pay attention to me. At Lake Erie Metropark, I have seen a group of Egrets and get closer to them and they are spooked either by me, or a car with a loud motor or a motorcycle zooming by and off they go. I really enjoyed seeing them and their reflections like mirror images.

Well, you were there at the perfect time to capture those shots!

Esther, I follow a wildlife photographer in British Columbia. He shoots photos of eagles and bears mostly and his favorite saying is “timing is everything!”

I agree with that photographer that “timing is everything.” It just seems I miss that timing or I need more relaxed time to observe and wait for that timing.

It could be more time too … sometimes I wait and wait and wait for a perfect shot (if it comes). I really stood a long time hoping to see the Bald Eagle come out and fly or do something besides perch, then finally gave up. I think it takes patience to be a birder. I know there are days while I am standing hoping to get another photo and it’s hot or humid and I just just say “enough already” and I move on.

Oh, I was suppose to be counting the birds. I was dizzy with the exciting distraction. 😘

Ha ha – that’s funny TD! I’ve only seen a large gathering of Egrets twice and the first group were mostly in trees and not “talking” to one another. They were very loud. I just went back and looked at the photos to correspond with your captions – yes, very true. The general consensus was 36, but technically 37 because there was a partial Egret in the one photo. 🙂

Thank you Debbie! It was stunning to see those Egrets and their reflections … it was a calm and peaceful morning so there were nice reflections. Way too many necks on them and in the water (36 Egrets). 🙂

That is crazy Linda! I have never seem that many at one time.

I know – they sure were beautiful Diane! And, the way they were gathered together and making a lot of noise – very unusual, to me anyway. I’ve seen groups of Egrets at Lake Erie Metropark where some are perched in trees and others in the water and yes, in one marsh, but not grouped together like this. This was nice to see, very serene, plus their reflections made it even nicer.
