Thank you Brian! Mallards mimic humans (or maybe vice versa). 🙂

Haha, these are great! Both of them starting to wonder “I wonder if he/she has calmed down.”

Thanks JP! They were just like humans, trying to decide if the icy period was over and it was safe to start interacting again. 🙂

I can almost see them saying “and you did ….”

I know! 🙂 They were funny, just like humans, trying to decide whether or not to declare a truce!

Clever, and so believable.

Thanks Ally! Just like humans thinking “hmmm, is it safe to start speaking again, or will I get my head bitten off?”

Well Pam, I always wonder why birds get the moniker of “birdbrain” – clearly, they think like humans!

Love how they take turns checking to see if the other one is still mad.

It made me smile too as I was watching them Barbara. It was as if they had a spat and were ready to reconcile. 🙂

Ha! Great caption to the series of photos, Linda. They do look like they are each trying to break the ice after a spat.

Thanks Laurie! It shows you that humans and birds are alike when it comes to making amends. 🙂
[Hope you and Bill are doing well and enjoying your new grandbabies.]

Thank you Ann Marie! I know you, a fellow duck lover, would enjoy these two ducks. Soon your pond will be filled with ducks and hopefully cute ducklings too.

Just like humans! 🙂 I love how they each steal a glance at the other. Very clever post!

Thank you Debbie! I couldn’t help but smile at their human-like behavior here, glancing over their shoulder to see if the other was willing to make amends. 🙂

These are so cute, Linda! The images really show their argument and possible make-up! I didn’t post today, needed a break.

Glad you liked the images Terri. It looks like life in the bird world is not so different from the human world when it comes to making amends. Winter is taking its toll on all of us for sure. I am on a streak … I started doing Wordless Wednesday at the beginning of the pandemic, so I aim to keep my WW streak going. 🙂

I’ll take the blame… and then duck out of the picture.

Now that’s clever Tom … when someone has a funny quip to one of my Wordless Wednesday posts, I always wonder why I didn’t think of that? I wondered if Mallards mimic human behavior or humans mimic Mallard behavior. Either way it was fun to watch them!

Thanks Yvette! I also could imagine that little thaw, just like humans. When I saw those Mallards keep turning around to look at the other one, without the other one knowing, I knew that was a Wordless Wednesday blog post for sure!

Thank you Donna! The way they kept turning around and checking out the other one reminded me of human behavior after an argument. 🙂

A delightful collection of photos – nice work! And a nice reminder of the lily pads from warmer weather where they could swim off if the reconciliation over their argument didn’t work 😉

Thank you Shelley! Ha ha – that is true. It’s nice to see you back, even if just passing by. 🙂

This was so funny Linda. When I look at each picture the first is ignoring each other. Then she says her words and turns away. Then he says his word and turns away. 🤣

Glad to give you a smile Diane! These two ducks did crack me up as it was such humanlike behavior in that “thawing out period” after an argument. 🙂

They’re tired of arguing! Trying to be as natural as possible to get over that awkward silence. 🙃

Esther – they made me smile when I saw this and it is almost like a human characteristic isn’t it? People trying to decide when it is time to break the ice and remove the thaw. 🙂

Yea…the photo showed that interaction. It could be turned into a meme.
