I like #2 because it has a casual vibe that says “I’m ready for my close-up now.”

Your favorite was my first choice for the featured image Ally, then I decided to go with the “Tiny Dancer” or maybe “Prancer” instead. Seagulls always seem to have such a deadpan look.

The raised foot speaks volumes. We have a ballerina bird here!

Pretty classy move isn’t it Dave? I started to entitle this post “Tiny Dancer” then thought maybe some readers weren’t family with Elton John or that long-ago song.

Kate, for some reason I always get cooperation from Seagulls when taking photos of them – either they find me fascinating (hardly), or I’m an interference in their otherwise boring day. 🙂

All nice but I like the first one best.

Thank you Ruth – the first one has the dance moves for sure … not sure if it’s a ballerina pose or it is trying to do the Hokey-Pokey. 🙂

So beautiful , Linda! I like 2nd.

I’m glad you liked them Raj – I think this gull might get a good modeling career with that shot. 🙂

Really good shot that.

Thank you Raj – Gulls stay put longer than most birds, so they are easier to take photos of.

Great shots Linda 🙂

Thank you Sandra! That was a good birding day – I had the Osprey family in the nest, the Caspian Terns and Seagulls having a squabble and this photogenic Seagull!

Great closeups! The bird looks like she or he is posing in that first pic. 😀

Thank you Debbie! I thought it looked like it was posing in that first shot too – either that or it was getting ready to do the Hokey-Pokey.

The photos and your interpretation of the gull are cute, Linda. I’m gullible. 😃

Cute captures of the gull, Linda! Hope you had a good day!

Thanks Terri – this gull seemed happy to be the star of the show. 🙂 We had freezing rain, snow and 45 mph winds here today but we’re in the 60s next week. Maybe Mother Nature isn’t mad at us after all!

I like the first one with his foot up as if he’s about to step out !

I liked that pose too Susan – either steppin’ out or getting ready to dance the Hokey-Pokey. 🙂

Great shots of the Ring-billed Gull, Linda!

Thank you Donna! I like that little foot action there that added a little flair to his step; either that or it was preparing to dance the Hokey-Pokey!

I love gulls. They always seem to have such attitude. Well done, Linda. 🙂

Thank you Robin I like gulls too – they’ll stand there and pose and yes, they have a little attitude going on too, but they seem to have more patience than other birds before flying off.

Nice shots, Linda. That first photo reminds me of doing the two-step.

Thanks Rebecca! Ha ha – the first one reminded me of the Hokey-Pokey song. I don’t normally see seagulls pose like that.

So intelligent-looking… (unlike the president). Geese still frequent the local ponds… but seagulls continue to be totally absent.
Wonderful shots, Linda!!!!!!

Thank you Tom! This gull was very close to where I was standing … it did not even flinch as I took its picture and I wished I had a treat to give to it. That was the morning I saw all the Ring-billed Gulls and Caspian Terns. Interestingly I saw very few seagulls last year, with the exception of this mixed group that morning. We used to have seagulls at Council Point Park every time the shad were running – I’ve hardly been to the Park due to this incessant ice. Finally we’re about to turn a corner, so out both of us will go with our cameras.

Yes. 🙂 Barbara, of course I thought of you when I saw this very polite seagull. This guy or gal seemed to enjoy being the center of attention and I departed before it did – very unusual. I saw very few seagulls last year and two fellow bloggers made the same remark about not seeing seagulls.

Every once in a while a gull will decide it likes to spend some quiet time with a human. You never know when or where a friendship will blossom!

I think I made him/her a star. I usually do okay taking seagull photos as they are content to stay put for a long time, giving me time to inch closer and closer to them.

Yes, it does look like that Diane – maybe their moms did that. 🙂 Today at the Park the Seagullapalooza has begun … the shad feeder fish must be running. I can’t get close enough to the water now to see and the Seagulls were dive bombing one another to get to the surface but I didn’t see any come up with a fish in their mouth. This happens every year, lasts a few weeks and is a pain as they cause a big ruckus and one side of the Park is full of them over top of the trail.

OMG! I bet it was fun to see the first time but they can be a bit overwhelming, especially with all the poop. Still, I think they are a beautiful bird.

I think so too Diane. I am always amazed when I see them take flight and stretch their wings, because when they are not in flight, you’d never guess their wingspan is that wide.

Yes, it is isn’t it? I think it was getting its modeling photos for a big career the way it was posing. I am starting to think all these birds are no strangers to people with cameras or phones taking their pictures.
