Glad you liked them Brian – they are beautiful and the bees and birds love them too!

I think so too Anne – I’m sure there are even more there now as this was three weeks ago.

Glad you liked both Ruth – a great quote by Helen Keller; these sunflowers were from Emily Frank Gardens, all lined up in a row along the fence.

A great way to close out the summer!

Yes, nothing says Summer like sunflowers, no matter what color they are!

True, you cannot see the shadows but you might get blinded by the light! Beautiful sunflowers, Linda! I love how we cannot safely look at the sun but we can enjoy the next best thing by looking at sunflowers.

Glad you liked the sunflowers Barbara! These sunflowers were from Emily Frank Gardens, taken three weeks ago today and I am sure there are more there now as many had not opened yet. I agree with you … the closest thing to seeing the sun is indeed seeing these beauties!

I know – this is at Emily Frank Gardens and the sunflowers are all along the black iron fence – you don’t know where to look first. This was three weeks ago today and there were many that had not bloomed yet – it’s probably even more stunning now.

Yes they do. I found a field of sunflowers not too far away that I want to go photograph..

That sounds like a fun place to go. For years, Ford Motor Company Headquarters used to have a big field of sunflowers near the expressway. It was beautiful, but then they mowed them down and planted them elsewhere, on private property. I tried to see them on a Sunday morning thinking it would be doable to see/photograph them, but it was not. This was at Emily Frank Gardens and they are lined up along the fence.

Thanks Debbie! Yes, they are gorgeous flowers and a perfect mood lifter. I probably should have saved them for a post in the heart of Winter!

Never seen a sunflower that wasn’t bright yellow – interesting!
LikeLiked by 1 person
I always thought they were only bright yellow too Dave, then I visited Emily Frank Gardens and saw all the varieties (although not all 70 I referenced in my last post). These pics were from three weeks ago – there are probably twice as many now as many had not bloomed yet.

Gorgeous! One of my very favorite types of flowers.
So poignant that Helen Keller would say that without being able to see the sunflowers she wrote about!

Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers too Laurie. Yes, it is so poignant that Helen Keller never got to see the beauty of sunflowers, yet expressed herself perfectly about their beauty. I wonder if Ann Sullivan had her reach and touch them perhaps and then she noticed they all faced the same way?

So sorry about you being in my spam folder. I have no idea how that happened. We had just exchanged several comments. I guess WP decided we had talked enough! LOL

WP does have its quirks sometimes. Earlier in the week I was unable to comment on posts from a blogger I’ve interacted with for years. It didn’t show up when I commented, but Esther said they were there – not at my end that I could see though. Plus she and I both have experienced getting posts with blanks instead of pictures.

I’m glad you liked them Ann Marie – this was three weeks ago at Emily Frank Gardens. They probably have twice as many now with all this sunshine and heat we’ve been having.

Yes, they were picture perfect and it was a picture-perfect day as well. (Speaking of picture-perfect days, I hope your weather is good for your travels around the Mitten State – it is downright hot here and hotter tomorrow!)

I especially love the first one against the orange leaves.

I really liked that photo too – amazing that the leaves are that color because I took the photos three weeks ago today and the leaves were that color already. The weather is so weird these days.

Nothing has changed color here…..although a few leaves have dropped…

At the Park, a lot of leaves have dropped already, brown and crumpled. It has to be because we’ve been so hot and it’s been almost three weeks since we had a good rainfall (0.41 inch of rain in September). I watered today as it was supposed to rain tonight, but now it doesn’t look like it for us.

Thank you Joni! They were beautiful, all lined up in a row against the iron railing at Emily Frank Gardens.

One of my favorite flowers. I love all the different colors you have photographed. It’s neat that they turn so that they always face the sun.

Mine too Rebecca. I like that feature about Sunflowers too and it was a bright and sunny day and there they were, all facing one way. In a way they reminded me of soldiers as they were planted in a neat row along the iron fence … “faces” all looking forward and so very tall!

Magically beautiful sunflowers, Linda!
Wow, amazing that Helen Keller said that!

Glad you liked them Tom – they are magnificent-looking flowers and were towering over me (and I am 5’9″ tall). I agree it is amazing Helen Keller said that – perhaps Anne Sullivan had Helen touch the flowers that were all facing in one direction?

Sunflowers are so cheering – I still prefer the bright yellow ones though.

Yes, they are cheering Anne. I like the bright-yellow variety best too. I am not keen on the brown one at all, but I wanted to capture images of each variety of sunflower at Emily Frank Gardens.

I had a sunflower plant in my garden this year that has multiple flowers on one stem. It is so cool looking. my first one like that. 😉

That does sound very cool Sandra. I’ll bet the Goldfinch were all over that plant … kind of like one-stop shopping! The only time I had sunflowers in the backyard, I did have Goldfinches stopping by – I put them in big pots on wheels and planted one, a different variety, in the garden and it grew very tall, towering over the neighbor’s garage and had a heavy center filled with seeds which unfortunately broke in half. I went outside to water and the squirrels were feasting on it. 🙂

Hi Samiran – I’m sorry for the late response. I had to rescue you from my SPAM filter. I’m glad you liked the sunflower photos and yes, that was a very special message by Helen Keller.

Wow, Linda – you really privided some excellent photos of a nice variety of sunflowers – and I like that quote in the title

Thanks Yvette! I really like that quote and I may have used it before, but I thought it would be nice to pair it with those beautiful sunflowers. This was back in the third week of August, so I am sure, with all the heat and sun we have had the last three weeks, there are even more sunflowers there as many had not bloomed yet.

😊 yes, I bet there are a lot more blooms now – and perhaps many have gone to seed

The goldfinches will be busy fueling up with all those sunflower seeds Yvette. I was hoping to see a few of them the day I was there, but unfortunately I did not. The grasscutters arrived shortly after I got there and were making a lot of noise and likely scared them away.

I can’t believe it missed this post, thank you for mentioning it. These are so amazing! I have every one of these in my yard right now!

I know you love sunflowers Terri – I guess I should have tagged you as I did it as the second part of the Color Challenge as some sunflowers had orange hues. You are lucky to have such a variety of sunflowers in your yard. These were at Emily Frank Gardens, all along their wrought iron fence and way back in August – I’m sure there are more now, as many had not bloomed yet.
