I can see how those mallards would be a great motivating example for you!

Ha ha – sometimes I think those mallards can waddle faster than I can walk! Especially when they see me coming with the camera!

I love ducks. Beautiful and with an attitude!

Yes, they do have spunk (along with the famous orange feet)!

Well Debbie, if we have no funky weather, like snow and ice, or lots of rain, I may recoup my miles lost this Summer from missed walks, but as of now, I will not make my yearly goal. I’ve walked more regularly lately – it’s still been hot, but not until late in the day (thankfully). Yes, fingers crossed!

Makes me wonder how many steps a duck takes in a given day. I’m guessing some animals easily eclipse 10,000.

Dave, after I read your comment, I Googled to see if there was an estimate of what ducks COULD do, but couldn’t find an answer. I imagine they could walk that many steps or more as you say. I saw a series of still shots today on a nature site I follow where a coyote and a doe were playing tag. They chased one another and stopped and looked at each other a few times. It had a happy ending (thankfully) as the coyote just walked away, but boy could that deer run and so gracefully!

It’s a struggle I tell you – maybe not for her though. The answer might be that I need orange sneakers. 🙂

I hope it has cooled down there some. I know that makes walking a lot more enjoyable.

Rebecca, today we only got to 67 degrees – it was glorious! But that just one day and we’ve been in the mid-80s and more 80s starting tomorrow and through the weekend. However, the mornings have been cool and comfortable, so that’s been a blessing to walk again. If it stayed like this the rest of the year, I might make my goal.

It sounds like your temperatures are similar to ours. I do love the cooler and less humid mornings. I’m rooting for you to make your goal.

Thank you Rebecca – I just watched the weather report and a 20+ degree drop in temps starting Wednesday sounds pretty good to me. I am going to try my darnedest to make my goal!

Just gotta keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Yes – I may have to make a more-realistic goal going forward. It was not me, but weather-related this year that kept me from walking. I also do errands etc. in the morning, but try to do all of them in one day, to not waste a walking day.

So cute, Linda! Should there be a word limit in these post titles? 🤣😆

Look at those orange feet! You will make your steps when you leave to get away from the barking dog!

Those big orange feet make that duck go fast – we need to set up a race to see who does better!

Ann Marie – Not you and me after this long, hot Summer which has stretched into Fall! I know I will whine about the snow when it gets here, but ….

Hi Linda, you really come up with GREAT titles – and the one for this Wednesday photo post gave me a pep to my step! (or a pop in the bop)

Hopefully we will have good weather until Christmas and you can meet your goal.

Yes, I have been walking more, despite this heat – we got to 86F today, but the mornings are cooler now and I never walk in the afternoon unless it is late Fall/Winter. Had the mornings been cooler (like more normal Summers), I’d have walked more. I still don’t think I’ll meet my goal, even if we have no snow/ice that will impede walking. I might have to settle for a lower goal going forward. Sigh.

Even a lower goal is okay. You can’t control the weather. I’m watching the Blue Jays game – the one yesterday was so exciting – they won 10 -1 and todays is good too. I had to water today and it was so hot in the sun.

That is true too Joni. I would have walked had it been cooler in the mornings. I used to go to the store and walk on the really hot days, but I was not keen on doing that either as I usually park fairly far away so no one hits the car and many mornings it was already so hot and humid, so that idea held no appeal. I left the house today at 8:30 as I wanted to walk and take photos for my “Walktober” post. I went to three different parks last Friday looking for colorful leaves – nothing yet in any of them, so I went to Heritage Park today to get some harvest and Halloween pics at the Botanical Gardens instead. It was pretty and they were setting up for a wedding, but the temps were already 77F when I left the park at 11:00 a.m. Ridiculous! I watered too when I got home, but tomorrow I’d going to use the sprinkler all the way around the front/back yards as they say we will have rain late tomorrow and an inch of rain on Tuesday, so I want a good soaking beforehand. At least it will be 20+ degrees cooler on Wednesday! The Tigers got into the playoffs and game #1 was last night. Lots of sports things going on right now with our teams.

the Jay won again last night, so they just have to win one more to beat the Yankees. I wonder if they will end up facing off against the Tigers?

Your Jays are on a roll for sure! That would be something if they played the Tigers! The Jays did well last year in the post-season as well. At least there is no jet lag from time differences if those two teams played each other – the Tigers played Seattle for the first two games and are back in Detroit for the next two games (starting tomorrow) and there was a three-hour time difference.
