About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy.       Ha ha – good question JP! I thought it was funny that one plant had two different types of flowers on it, so I had to surmise there was a scuffle or a kerfuffle – take your pick which word fits better! 🙂

    I’ve never seen flowers like that with red markings in the center. They are beautiful.

      I think they are really unique looking Terri. I like that little splash of red in some of them. Now I am going to put a link for your Sunday Stills and Flower Hour, essentially triple-dippin’ because of my lemon-colored goslings. 🙂

    And here I thought it was YOU with the bloody nose while walking past some black eyed susans. I’m glad it was just the flowers.

      Ha ha – not me thankfully! I saw both types of flowers on the same bush and when I Googled the image to ensure it was a Black-eyed Susan, I decided it would by funny to say some Black-eyed Susans had bloody noses as it looked like blood drips on the petals.

      Yes, it was a first for me too Rebecca. I Googled to find out their name since both the solid color and red-splashed flowers were on the same plant They were created for the celebration of Denver’s 150th birthday.

      Thank you Tom! I was amazed that both types of Black-eyed Susans were on the same bush. It’s been so humid lately I think we could have tropical flowers thriving without a problem!
