BADGES

Do the black eyes get bloodshot when you over-water them? 😛

Ha ha – good question JP! I thought it was funny that one plant had two different types of flowers on it, so I had to surmise there was a scuffle or a kerfuffle – take your pick which word fits better! 🙂

I thought so too Kate … one plant with two different types of blooms on it made me take a second look.

I’ve never seen flowers like that with red markings in the center. They are beautiful.

I hadn’t either Anne, so I Googled the image once I had it on the screen. The odd thing was it was one plant, but two types of flowers on it.

That is truly odd!

Yes, it was one plant, yet two types of flowers on the same plant!

Aww, I love these flowers, Linda! So summery and play nicely with their sunflower cousins!

I think they are really unique looking Terri. I like that little splash of red in some of them. Now I am going to put a link for your Sunday Stills and Flower Hour, essentially triple-dippin’ because of my lemon-colored goslings. 🙂

I wonder if it is a new or heirloom variety?

Joni – I Googled the image to find out the exact name and learned it was specially created to celebrate the City of Denver, Colorado’s 150th birthday (this was back in 2008). Both yellow and yellow tinged with red flowers were on the same plant.

That’s interesting they are on the same plant.

Wishing there was a “love” button, Linda. Lovely Black-eyed Susans, even with bloody noses.

Glad to give you a smile Pepper! This was so unusual as both types of flowers, yellow only, plus yellow with a splash of red were on the same plant. 🙂

And here I thought it was YOU with the bloody nose while walking past some black eyed susans. I’m glad it was just the flowers.

Ha ha – not me thankfully! I saw both types of flowers on the same bush and when I Googled the image to ensure it was a Black-eyed Susan, I decided it would by funny to say some Black-eyed Susans had bloody noses as it looked like blood drips on the petals.

I likethose streaks – or bloody noses – hahaha

I figured it fit perfectly with black eyes! Could have been a split lip too. 🙂

I agree with you Terri – they are bright and cheery looking. Yes, roses are beautiful and delicate, but Black-eyed Susans and Sunflowers just make you smile!

There is something about the yellow that gives good vibes.

Yes, I agree with your Barbara. Their bright yellow petals remind me of the sunshine drawings like we used to draw when we were young.

Yes, it was a first for me too Rebecca. I Googled to find out their name since both the solid color and red-splashed flowers were on the same plant They were created for the celebration of Denver’s 150th birthday.

Great shots, Linda! It’s so nice to see flowers during this time of year. We need to appreciate them more.

Thank you Tom! I was amazed that both types of Black-eyed Susans were on the same bush. It’s been so humid lately I think we could have tropical flowers thriving without a problem!
