Just hoppin’ by to say …

and also to forward a link to my blog post done yesterday. It is all about Easter and The Great Easter Cookie Caper. Once again I posted around 5:45 p.m. – the post is not going to Reader, even all these hours later, though non-Reader followers are receiving the post … I have contacted WordPress and they say it is there and sent a screenshot. It is not there and I have looked using three different browsers. I have tried all the suggestions they made and I am at a loss. I do have lots of posts I want to do, but would like to find a solution to this dilemma first. Here is the link; I’m not going to embed it:

I’m heading out for a walk – as my furry friend says “HOPPY EASTER!”

About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each and every post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things I see on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, and so my blog is peppered with folks I meet, or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post that day. I respect and appreciate nature and my interaction with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. My career has been in the legal field and I have been a legal secretary for four decades, primarily working in downtown Detroit, and now working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in print journalism in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met and shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing once again in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy – hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

Thanks Fred – I think you subscribe via e-mail? But my post from yesterday never appeared in Reader until 18 hours later. I have followed all their recommendations they gave me – I don’t understand the problem. I am quite behind in Reader right now – I will look. I don’t know why I never heard of the singing mailman until his death from COVID-19 last week. It is like Leonard Cohen – never heard of him until he died. I know I will not get through Reader today, (though I hoped I would) and we are having a humdinger storm with 60 mph winds tomorrow, so they’re already advising of possible power outages. Oh joy – further behind, so hopefully they are wrong or power stays intact.

Happy Easter to you and Jack! I know you likely got him a bone, like you put in his Christmas stocking.

That is exciting Cathy! You might remember about four years ago, I had several posts about my neighbor Marge who had a dove make a nest in a metal wire basket she had used as a planter on her back deck. The dove sat every day on the eggs – one did not hatch and Marge sent me pictures before/after and the baby dove. The parents let the baby stay in the nest and they were always nearby. They were having flying lessons with the baby and next thing she knew, the whole family was gone – she was disappointed. Her daughter was mowing the lawn and found a bunny’s nest too … I have nothing exciting with birds that I can write about!

Yes, they are lucky and spoiled a little – I treat them like they were pets. They sure enjoyed these treats and I loved seeing the small squirrels chomping on one of those cookies. Happy Easter back at you Rebecca!

I had made that picture earlier in the week Joni intending to use it as a Happy Easter post and it came in handy as I was determined that I would circulate my post without blogging it. Even if only a few people saw it, I spent a lot of time on that post, from “making” cookies, to standing waiting outside twice, taking photos, writing, finishing up the post – I know I spent more than the 4 hours I initially said to WP that I spent. I had some Valentine’s Day chocolate and also finished off the rest of the Nutter Butters (unadorned). You and mom split the rest of the chocolate chip cookies and hope your Easter was good as well.

I will Wayne … I posted the cookie post on Saturday at 5:45 p.m. I could not see it in Reader. I have some followers who get it by e-mail but I contacted WPress on Saturday night – got back an out-of-office message that it would be 24-48 hours for a response (due to the holiday). It landed in Reader 18 hours later, but I did the shorter post with Parker as I knew it would be way down the queue in Reader and people who already went through their Reader would not have seen it. WordPress Happiness Engineers could see it, sent me a screenshot, but I asked others who could not see it either. They don’t know why this is happening. They gave me suggestions and I followed them all to no avail. I have done a post for this Wednesday and set it to publish Wednesday at around 5:00 a.m. – we’ll see if it works. The post with Parker in bunny ears worked like a charm. That is why they are perplexed – it does not happen every time, but has happened 5X since December.
