Wordless Wednesday … with a twist.
Fellow blogger Dave (https://lifeinaword.com/) commented on today’s post entitled “Pavarotti?” by suggesting: “You should ask your readers to submit thoughts on what his companion is thinking. He looks – well – embarrassed, to say the least!”
Over the course of several shoreline visits to the Detroit River in Wyandotte, I saw enough crazy Seagull antics to use the tagline #Seagull Shenanigans three times.
When I created this post, I came up with a ton of fun titles to call it, based on the Seagull with its mouth wide open and the deadpan look on the other Seagull’s face. If that wasn’t funny enough, the singing Seagull was wearing a very sheepish grin in the last shot.
So, among the post titles that sifted through my brain were:
“The Bad Boys of the Boardwalk”
“Pennies from Heaven”
“Catching snowflakes on my tongue”
“Bad joke or bad breath?”
“Gulls just wanna have fun” and …
“That takes a lot of gall, er … gull!”So, while Pavarotti the Ring-billed Gull was screeching up a storm – what do YOU think his companion was thinking … is he embarrassed by his gull friend or perhaps he/she secretly covets that voice?

Sometimes Seagull’s antics are almost human-like. You can picture the silent Seagull just rolling his eyes.

I got it! The mate is saying “You’re mother is not going to feed you, you are an adult now!”

Ha ha – yes, he looks just like a baby bird doesn’t he? That is a good one Diane. I like when there are Robins at the Park and I can watch them feeding their young. All the babies line up, constantly with their mouths open – makes me smile.

He or she is thinking……I’m not with him!

Just like a person would be thinking! A person whose companion is “acting the fool” and they are mortified to be with them.

Ha! His companion looks disgusted. Maybe she is thinking “There he is, sounding off again!” 🙂

Good one Laurie! I think the the look of disgust on the one Seagull’s face is so obvious, then the loudmouth has a silly expression on his face like “maybe I pushed the envelope too far!”

I love the “Pavarotti” pose. I laughed out loud.

Glad you liked it Ron … the last picture I think he looks like he embarrassed himself.

I imagine the quiet seagull is thinking: ‘I’ll pretend I don’t know him…’
‘Oh, for goodness sake, he’s still showing me up. I hope I don’t bump into anyone I know’.
‘Oh, finally. He’s shut up. Peace at last.’

Those are all great ideas Clare and any of them work. The loud screeching had people looking at it … what an attention seeker! I find that seagulls sometimes are just like humans with the antics and body language.

Gulls just wanna have fun… ugh! 🙂

I wavered on using that title but put it out there anyway as I’m not sure how much fun they were having since one gull clearly registered disgust with the other one’s behavior.

“Ok, I know what i said was funny, but please stop laughing so i can finish my story – this is serious, honey”

I like that Yvette – that gull looked like it was roaring laughing and the other one couldn’t get a word, er screech in edgewise. 🙂

and from your list of options – I liked this one second
“Gulls just wanna have fun”
and my first choice is the one you chose her:
Pavarotti? Great facial expressions!

I remembered that it was not Madonna but Cyndi Lauper who did the “Girls just wanna have fun” song, a few days after I responded to fellow blogger Tom. Glad you liked my original title choice Yvette – this seagull was/is a great crooner.
