Hmm … why is only one knob rusty? #Wordless Wednesday #Someone forgot to use Rust-Oleum!

About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each and every post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things I see on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, and so my blog is peppered with folks I meet, or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post that day. I respect and appreciate nature and my interaction with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. My career has been in the legal field and I have been a legal secretary for four decades, primarily working in downtown Detroit, and now working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in print journalism in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met and shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing once again in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy – hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

Another mystery of life! Great observation on your part, lack of attention to detail on someone else’s part.

  2. Looks like it might be next in line to be removed! (Some others are missing.)

Yes and I wonder if others notice and complain – it’s a very scenic park. Well it isn’t sea salt spray causing those issues … I’ve never seen so much rust at one spot before!

Miss Linda…………………………………..I’m lost for words………………………I’m sure they ran out of good materials when they were building this nice river gate!

It does look very rusty……maybe the maintenance people are not details-oriented?

I wonder if the rusty one is made of a different material? Far be it from a manufacturing company to substitute cheaper materials during a run of parts to save a few cents each.

super clever title for these photos and you really do wonder what happened to make that one rusty – manufacturer defect – or no rustoleum 🙂

  10. Linda, that’s keen observation of those knobs! I think the rusty one is the next to go. I wonder if they get removed or just fall off. If they do fall off, hope it doesn’t hurt anyone.
Hope you’re having a good weekend and keeping cool as we kick off the summer tomorrow. 🙂

Hi Esther – you’re right; if it fell off and went kerplunk, it might injure someone. They are big railings and so are the posts/knobs. We have a stormy weekend with severe weather on tap, so instead of walking in the larger parks this weekend, I scurried to my regular park and right home. I heard it is very hot there too – stay cool Esther. It feels like Summer already – I’m kind of worried what kind of heat Mother Nature has in store for us for Summer.!
