I know! I hope no one stepped on him. Unbelievably, I have never seen a snail with a shell, just slugs in the garden. I was walking on the path at Council Point Park last Sunday when the sun was gleaming on its shell and I noticed it.

Good question Terri – he is more into slip-sliding across the perimeter path. 🙂 They were lucky shots for me as the sun was making his shell gleam or I may have missed him.

My first time for seeing a snail Susan! I’ve seen plenty of slugs, but this guy (or gal) crossed my path at the Park last Sunday and its shell was gleaming in the sun … glad I didn’t step on it!

You’re right Ann Marie. This snail, the first one I’ve seen, was crossing the perimeter path at Council Point Park last Sunday. I’m glad its shell was gleaming in the sunshine, so it caught my attention and I didn’t step on it! I took the pictures of it, then waited until it disappeared into the grass and it was safe.

Yes, it is a beauty isn’t it? It was slinking across the perimeter path toward the Creek on the Wyandotte side of Council Point Park last Sunday morning. I couldn’t believe how big it was!

As beautiful as it is – I do not like snails because they can destroy plants and they also carry many diseases.

Yvette – glad you liked these colors. I like the perfect design on the shell. I was lucky this snail crossed my path and I’ve never seen a snail before, just plenty of slugs. I was looking ahead and the sun was gleaming on its shell, or I would not have noticed it on the perimeter path at the Park.

I like the filtered sun for pics, but this ray of sun worked wonders on this snail shell Yvette. I don’t like escargot either. The friends of the family I visited in Puerto Rico in 1973, I spent three weeks traveling with them in Spain the following year. We went to a lot of small towns and ate at places with unique food and Werner and Alfonsa loved seafood. I tried many things (to be adventurous, but also to be polite) that I didn’t really want to know what they were. One sticks out in my mind and I said “no” and passed on a bouillabaisse. I took a look at that soup with the fish heads and clam shells bobbing around in it and just had bread instead. 🙂

Yes, not my cup of tea at all. We were at my grandmother’s house once and my aunt, who lived upstairs, had a friend who cooked up an octopus stew. I had been out at the Royal Winter Fair all day and came home starving. I was handed a bowl and told to taste it. It would have been nice if my mom or grandmother would have told me what it was but they were engrossed in conversation in the other room so maybe they weren’t privy to the ingredients. It was a tomato base, spicy and quite good actually, but then poking my spoon through it I saw “suckers” and said “what is this?” I did not feel well after that and I have always had a cast iron stomach.

Wow! When/where did you see the snail? I agree with Yvette’s comments, very striking photos. The snails I’ve seen in our town aren’t as pretty as that one. This week is going at a snail’s pace… 🐌🐌🐌🐌🐌🐌

Glad you liked my snail Shelley – it was the first snail I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen plenty of slugs as you know from my recent post. This was at Council Point Park last Sunday. Walking along and saw something ahead as the sun’s rays were hitting the shell making it gleam, so I stopped to look at it and got some pics. I thought the shell was a beautiful design too.

I was excited to see it and when I got home, we were expecting that bad storm, but I wanted to see how the shots turned out, so looked right away (unusual for me as I sometimes wait months to see the pics).

I was at Council Point Park last Sunday and saw something gleaming on the perimeter path and it was the snail’s shell. First time I’ve ever seen a snail, maybe those tiny dark brown ones in dirt, but nothing like this. Yes, we are on the same page with our photos – how often do you see a heron and/or a goose on the rooftop. I remember you had a post once showing shells you had collected.

Funny you say that Sandra as I was at Council Point Park years ago and saw my first heron. It flew up in a tree. I’d never seen a heron or egret anywhere but wading in the water or flying. I stood there gazing at it, trying to figure if I could get a photo of it and all the time a police vehicle (SUV) was behind me on the asphalt walking path. They go there occasionally to ensure nothing is going on … I never heard or saw the vehicle or the officer and when I did, I nearly jumped out of my skin. I mouthed “I’m sorry to him”and he rolled down the window and said he hoped I got a good picture. 🙂

Glad you liked the photos Ally. I thought its shell was very pretty and the shiny shell was gleaming in the sun or I might not have noticed it crossing the perimeter path at the Park. Those antennae make it look a bit alien looking.

Thanks Joni! I’ve seen pictures of snails, but I have never actually seen one. It was pretty with that shell with the swirly design and just slinking along across the perimeter path at Council Point Park. I noticed it as the sun made its shell gleam and I looked down (thank goodness or I probably would have squished it as I walked over it).

You too Joni. I got a walk in today, Sunday is iffy and tomorrow is a washout. I thought I’d finish up in Reader tonight, but did not. At least I am only a couple of days behind and need to get back to my book again – sigh. You must have a post coming up!

I’m working on a WWed. for next week, as it’s been a month since I posted anything, but a lot of the pics I took of flowers did not turn out, so will have to retake them over the weekend. I have so many photos in the Picture file I’ve just been dumping them all in one big folder as I can’t make new folders anymore, and you know how time consuming it is to sort through them all. I’ll use the good/new camera on the weekend. We had light rain all day today, but it didn’t matter as I got groceries in so did my walking in the grocery store.

Yes, going thru pictures is time consuming. It was an ugly day here. I did my Monday and Wednesday post and did two more posts, but have to get pictures tomorrow for one and I have pictures for the other. Tomorrow will be a sew-sew day after walking (assuming I walk). I always do pretty good getting steps in at Meijer as it’s so big so I don’t feel too badly about missing a regular walk then.

Yes, it was beautiful and the first snail I ever saw so I bent down close to take some shots. Yes, time is relative, but to me it suddenly seems fleeting. 🙂
