Thanks Shelley – I think I may try submitting the link to Dan tomorrow for Thursday Doors. I thought these handles were very unique.

Yes, DO IT!

I decided to do it – that’s why I took the door pics and put them under each handle, though it was difficult to take photos of them since they were tinted like mirrors. 🙂

Aren’t they unique Anne? You might have to have your Wheaties to open them though!

Those are clever! What kind of a business is it? Design of some sort I’m guessing?

I thought so too Zazzy – each handle is so different and they are big too. Regina Andrew is a modern home furnishings store. I have never been inside it, just peeked in the window. All their pieces look unique.

The last one reminds me of a projector reel. The first one? Oddly, I go right back to one of the final scenes in “The Poseidon Adventure”, where Gene Hackman saves the survivors by shutting off steam, hanging by his hands from one of those wheels. It’s a scene forever etched in my mind (apparently!)

I really liked that movie Dave! Those were the days, the era of disaster movies, like “The Poseidon Adventure”, “Earthquake” and “Airport”, with all good actors and storylines that kept you on the edge of your seat to see what would happen. Yes, those handles do like projector reels and shut off valve handles.

Those ARE fun door handles. Love the creativity of using wheels. Great captures, Linda. 🙂

What a great theme to capture and share these door handles, Linda! They’re very unusual 🙂

Thanks Teri – I thought they were unique handles too, especially since this store is so large that it has three unusual handles.

That is awesome! I have never seen a wheel as a door handle.

I thought they were awesome too Diane. They weren’t open which was too bad as I would have liked to have seen how they open – do you push, pull or turn them like a wheel?

These left me wondering what this store owner sells?

They are a home furnishings/decor store TD, mostly modern furniture and I always look in the window so I have seen unique artwork, furnishings and also they have modern lighting as well. It is quite a large store as you might guess since they have three doors.

I really like them, they are unusual and yet still functional, plus they are recycled from something so it’s a win win !

I liked them too Susan – very unique and I agree it is a win win. I sure wish the store had been open so I could have tried the door handle to see if you push/pull or have to twist it like a wheel to open the door. I didn’t want to set off any burglar alarms!

Ingenious! What a fun idea. 🙂

I thought they were unique too Rebecca. I wish I could have opened the doors to see how the handles worked: push/pull or twist around? They were closed and I might have set off the burglar alarm.

I’ve never seen a “handle” like that.

They were different all right – I’ll bet they are heavy if you try to use them!

I love those doors and the handles. I always like seeing mechanical things put to good use.

I thought you might like these handles Dan. They sure are unique. I would have liked to find out if they were heavy – do you push, pull or twist them? I couldn’t try as the store was closed and I didn’t want to set off any alarms. 🙂

I’m guessing push or pull, and they look heavy.

Very different. And not on an old barn, on modern doors.

Yes, pretty amazing looking aren’t they Ally? This is on a large, very modern home furnishings store. I wonder if the handles are antique?

I wouldn’t think much about it if they were on a ship, but they’re certainly unusual here. Great find.

Beautiful doors and handles. My dad built the cabin my folks lived in, and all of his doors have a handle system where you slide a piece of wood into a hole bored into the door frame, and he had a way you could lock the door too. People are always fascinated by the doors in that place.

They are really unique Dawn … this is a modern furnishings store, so it gives it a very different look. That is great that your dad built a cabin and not just ornamental doors, but doors that had the ability to keep predators out as well. I worked with a guy who built a cabin up in Marquette. It is not winterized to stay there in Winter, but they go up there the rest of the year.

I love these, Linda. They remind me of steampunk things. Hugs.

Thank you Teagan – you know I never looked at them as being steampunk, but yes they do. The handles on this modern store look very unique!

I’m sure these are not actually water-tight doors like you might see on an old ship, but that’s what they remind me of. Love these!

I thought they were very unique too JP. I wonder if they would tell me if they were created for the store or where they originated from?

They look like the wheels/handles for old industrial valves. Water pipes in industrial buildings still use big wheels like these for turning flow off or on.

I would have liked to have felt how heavy they were (or if they were just ornamental) but it was before store hours and I might have set off their alarm system.
