About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy. I hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

Another GOURDgeous day.

Today we were blessed with another Pure Michigan day, just gorgeous with the sunshine, blue skies and puffy clouds, and, once that sun was out full strength, it sure warmed things up. Mercifully, the rain has stayed away, but water, … Continue reading

Did I dare venture out on Friday the 13th?

I believe the phrase “when it rains, it pours” aptly describes our weather this past week; first, we’ve not had significant rain in weeks, and now it is arriving too frequently and rather annoyingly so.  The phrase “when it rains, … Continue reading

Feeling thankful  …

Today is Thanksgiving Day in Canada and Columbus Day here in the U.S. While I am Canadian, I’m not having a Thanksgiving feast today, but I am still feeling thankful nonetheless.  I must admit I have had better years than … Continue reading

Flavors of the season.

Fall is my favorite season of the year, even though it is the gateway to the colder weather which I don’t really mind, but the ice and snow which I absolutely detest.  Among my favorite Fall things are the harvest … Continue reading

Furnace, Fall(ing) Apples and the Backyard Brawl.

Three things spoke to me today that reminded me it was indeed Fall, despite these sultry Summer-like temps.  For sure, you don’t need to be clad in flannels like this scarecrow above. First, here at the house, it felt like … Continue reading

Tuesday Musings.

The jury’s still out on whether it is Summer or Fall. Getting dressed is becoming a real challenge these days and I don’t always get it right. These roller-coaster temperatures remind me of the story of “Goldilocks and The Three … Continue reading
