About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy. I hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

“What is an acorn …”

Well, if the above title happened to be the answer to a Jeopardy question, what would that question be? I’d say “In Autumn, this is something that falls on your head and goes thunk, thanks to the squirrels who scramble … Continue reading

Sunrise and scarecrows on a late Summer morn.

My boss was out most of the day, and the perfect weather, and his absence, was an excellent opportunity to go for a longer-than-usual trek. So, while he wended his way back from the family cabin in Wiarton, Ontario, I … Continue reading

What a difference a day makes.

What a difference a day makes, after a hot, humid and soggy Saturday, today’s weather was a breath of fresh air. There was a cool breeze when I headed out in the brilliant sunshine and I took my camera along … Continue reading

One very foggy Friday and a “bad hair day” too.

Yesterday, the weather folks predicted fog for Friday early a.m., and I thought “well, the fog is usually never that bad in my neck of the woods so I won’t worry about it”, despite the fact that I had a … Continue reading

Whew!! For the second morning in a row, it felt a mite tropical out there, and, there really was no joy in going out for the morning trek, just for the sake of getting it done. When I left the … Continue reading
