About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy. I hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

I remember a teacher from way back in grade school telling us kids that every day we should “be like the sun and rise and shine”, no matter how we felt. I thought of that phrase this morning – I … Continue reading

I think Spring went on Spring Break.

Where the heck did Spring go?   I think it is on hiatus somewhere else, because it sure isn’t here. I left the house early this morning and decided to head to the marina. The sky was ugly and dark – … Continue reading

It’s weather for ducks.

This morning I thought about that ditty that mentions “March winds, April showers” … local meteorologist Paul Gross proclaimed it the 5th wettest March in history.   I believe that since I hunkered down in the house more times than I … Continue reading

Steppin’ out on this beautiful Spring day …

My friend Marge told me recently, that taking a morning walk allows me the luxury of enjoying the best part of the day, because “people are quiet, birds are vocal and traffic is limited” – that statement was certainly true … Continue reading

Chicken Little.

I hustled out of the house early, shutting the door and simultaneously stealing a quick glance at the sky which looked a little ominous, but I was determined to get a long walk in on this Good Friday morning. My … Continue reading

Wednesday … just wanderin’ and whistlin’.

It was a bonus walking day for me on this mid-week morning. Evidently the weather folks must’ve consulted the wrong models and maps since they all predicted a rainy a.m. drive time.  Even though it was dry as a bone, … Continue reading
