About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy. I hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

Spring may finally be gettin’ here … now that it’s May.

Tuesday musings.

Sometimes good things come to those who wait. Like me for instance. I am not a big fan of Mother Nature right now. She’d get a “F” for fail in the sunshine department first of all for the last few … Continue reading

Mother Nature had fun Photoshopping this morning.

Sometimes I catch Mother Nature in the act … she waves her magic wand and creates beauty from the mundane right before my very eyes. And, on this humdrum Friday, she was truly an artist extraordinaire. I peeked out the … Continue reading

Twist and shout.

Mother Nature was not kind to the walkers this early morn. So, there I sat, in the kitchen, nursing my first cup of joe and listening to the national news.  Hmmm, so now there’s a new twist in the presidential … Continue reading

Monday morning … mowed lawns and magnolia blossoms.

I shut the screen door to leave for my walk this morning, and the first thing I saw was a big, fat robin sitting on the chain-link fence glaring at me. I hadn’t stepped on his toes, but he shot … Continue reading

Happy Earth Day 2016!

Hello Earthlings! How did you celebrate this special day dedicated to Mother Earth? On this April 22nd, the day we have annually commemorated our planet since 1970, it dawned without that pesky rain which tainted our Thursday and threatened to … Continue reading

Spring has returned again after yesterday’s little blip …

… and the day dawned sunny, so off I went. Today, I could enjoy the scenery a little more, because yesterday, I was about a mile out of the gate, when the gray sky squeezed out a few raindrops … … Continue reading

Shades of Summer, er Spring.

The non-stop beautiful weather has been simply glorious. It is hard to believe that one week ago we were dealing with slush and ice and snow, and, here we are now with temps feeling like Summer already.  We are poised … Continue reading

When will Spring spring?

This time I think it is finally on the way, though I won’t hold my breath (which is still coming out as frosty vapors as of this morning). While the past few Winters may have received the moniker of “The … Continue reading
