About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy. I hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

I sure was tempted to pull a Tiny Tim today and …

… tiptoe through the tulips I saw along the way to the Park.  I probably would have done it on a lark, except I might have gotten a citation for trespassing. Besides my ukulele was out of tune. It was … Continue reading

This old dawg is learning new tricks.

Well, I didn’t take a stroll to the Park today because I decided to deal with the new camera … it’s been here since April 18th already. Two Sundays ago, I cleared an afternoon to read the info and set … Continue reading

Head for the border cuz it’s Cinco de Mayo.

Well, the closest border for me would be at the Detroit River for the U.S. and Canada, and, I can’t cross that border to my homeland since I don’t have an active passport.  My new green card is hung up … Continue reading

I say “goose ‘em”!

It was a warmish morning and I opted to do a quick round-trip walk to the Wyandotte border instead of the Park.  I soon realized I was overdressed, especially since I was walking rather quickly since storms were predicted and … Continue reading

Ya snooze, ya lose …

Image and copyright by Rodney Campbell: https://www.flickr.com/photos/acrylicartist/8247323475 I stole out of the house early, and the sky was still streaked a dusky pink and gray.  My destination was Council Point Park, and, in anticipation I had packed a picnic brunch … Continue reading

Did you celebrate May Day in style?

After stepping out on this beautiful May Day, in my heart I felt like this young woman tripping down the tree-lined path, in a regal purple flowing gown and hair adorned with flowers.  But, in reality I was traversing the … Continue reading

Getting persnickety about pinch points …

Sometimes the calendar date does not matter in the least – even though it says tomorrow is the last day of April, it does not feel like it is the last day of April.  I have, throughout this fourth month … Continue reading

Fluff and Stuff.

I decided I had moved the dust around enough for Spring cleaning to be deemed done for 2015, so therefore I hightailed it out the door for a walk at Council Point Park. Since my last visit, a week ago … Continue reading

It’s terrible being such a scaredy cat.

Work, the wind … and weather in general, wreaked havoc with my walking schedule this week. And, I needed to get some groceries, and give the car a run, so I planned to set off just as soon as it … Continue reading
