About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy. I hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

Simply irresistible.

There is something irresistible about a huge pile of leaves which, like a magnet, draws kids and dogs toward it. As I was walking home from Council Point Park this morning, I heard the squeals and giggles of little children … Continue reading

Here, there and everywhere.

Simply put … today I was a walkin’ fool. First, I indulged myself with an extra hour of sleep. Last night, before turning in, I mentally planned out my Saturday, and decided to take to the streets no later than … Continue reading

Chilly temps are old hat now.

‘Fraid to say these chilly temps are here to stay. The bright and sunny skies belied the frigid air when I embarked on this morning’s walk to Council Point Park. When I got to the Park, the couple who usually … Continue reading

Fall is in full swing.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRisk morning, and by the time I got home after walking 3 ½ miles, my eyes were watering, my nose was running like a sieve and my hearty bowl of oatmeal consumed at 5:30 a.m. had sunk down to my … Continue reading

Mid-week eek!

I eked out a walk, despite the fact that raindrops and drizzle persisted from the get-go … but I got it done anyway. I stepped out the door, walked about three houses down and a few pitter patters of rain … Continue reading

Fall’s fair-weather friend.

I guess I’ll describe myself as fickle about our current season, because I’ve decided Fall is in my favor after all, and, thus is my friend once again. I’ve wavered back and forth with this 2013 Autumn, which is usually … Continue reading

I am seeing red!!!!

Today’s post could have been entitled “Fifty Shades of Red” or “The Color Red” but I don’t want to be a copycat. Red sure was on my mind this morning. Nope, nothing made me angry, but while walking out the … Continue reading

Ecstatic over E.S.T.

I could get used to having an extra hour in my day … and wouldn’t it be great to have an additional 60 minutes on an every-day basis? Yes, keep wishing! I was so much more productive!!! Last night, I … Continue reading

Don’t be a turkey just to save a buck!

Well, with a mere flip of the calendar, we’ve now dispensed with Halloween and today we pack away the inside and outside decorations (unless they blew away last night) then head to the store for half-off on our favorite bags … Continue reading
