About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each and every post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things I see on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, and so my blog is peppered with folks I meet, or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post that day. I respect and appreciate nature and my interaction with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. My career has been in the legal field and I have been a legal secretary for four decades, primarily working in downtown Detroit, and now working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in print journalism in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met and shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing once again in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy – hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

  2. Adorable! I agree with Peggy, that is a perfect shadow. You can see the outlines of the hairs in his tail and whiskers on his chin and the shape overall is a perfect silhouette. 🙂

Barbara, I just told Peggy that usually shadows are a pain, but this shadow was perfect, so I hurried and took it before he moved. Parker followed me out to the parking lot for more peanuts. I don’t like him doing that in case he gets hurt so I took his picture, then herded him back into the Park, luring him with peanuts. 🙂

    Awww…your pal Parker?

Yes it is Laurie. I should have put that, but I had already squeezed a lot of words into my Wordless Wednesday title, so I left it out. He followed me out to the parking lot to beg for more peanuts. I hate when he does that as I don’t want him getting hurt, so I had to herd him back to the Park by luring him with peanuts (which he knew he would get as I’m such a sucker).

That’s one of the songs they sang in the Roaring Twenties musical – I think of it now every time I see a shadow now, although I hadn’t heard it in years.

What a coincidence. I think I would have enjoyed that musical. They announced today they are rebuilding the Holly Hotel and some of the buildings around as well. So one day the Dickens’ Christmas Festival will happen again.

I remember a story about a lady who domesticated a squirrel and dressed him in different outfits. Always wondered why squirrels don’t make pets. Cool.

Hi Dolphinwrite – A friend of mine, also a squirrel lover, told me about Jill the Squirrel, a sweet Eastern Gray squirrel who is on Instagram and also on YouTube. I had never heard of Jill, but read up on her and watched some of the videos. So cute! Jill was rescued after Hurricane Issac in 2012 and has lived with this family since then. She is a beloved family pet and they dress her up, she has her own teddy bear and spoiled rotten. I just found a story about her and will send it to you in a separate comment in case it goes to your SPAM filter. This post shows Parker who is very sweet and my little pal at the Park where I walk most days. He is spoiled and has me wrapped around his paw. 🙂

Hi Dolphinwrite: This is a story about Jill the Squirrel. I don’t see why you couldn’t keep them as pets. The squirrels’ antics at the Park make my day. We need the smiles these days.

Double the fun Ann Marie. 🙂 I saw Parker at the curb at the parking lot at Council Point Park and he looked to me like he was sitting at a table waiting for dinner. He has lots of patience and has me wrapped around his paw.
