About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy. I hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

Tuesday Musings.

Easter weekend was not a washout as ALL the weather folks predicted, so they get a collective slap on the hands for making some people cancel their outdoor plans in favor of a drier venue. Sadly, I’ll just bet that … Continue reading

Spring Sing.

Easter Saturday sure started out soggy and dreary looking, but things eventually perked up once the sun was out. By then, a little sun went a long way and I could not believe my ears when the weatherman said it … Continue reading

Nuttin’ Honey!

I’m on a roll this week for getting to Council Point Park for my morning walk and I’m pleased about that. I hurried out the door since the weatherman said occasional rain was in today’s forecast. It is bad enough … Continue reading

Tuesday Musings.

Two days of extremely warm weather and a lot of rain have awakened the buds on the trees and bushes. They are slowly coming back to life with tiny leaves that are starting to unfurl.  From a distance, there is … Continue reading

A-tisket, a-tasket …

… a green and yellow basket. I was thinking of that childhood rhyme this afternoon while attending the City of Lincoln Park’s annual Easter Egg Hunt over at Memorial Park. I have always wanted to go check it out and … Continue reading

Spring sanctuary.

Whenever I open the screen door to step outside these days, it’s a sure bet that a Robin will be sitting on the cyclone fence, a scowl on its face, and a steely stare that is aimed in my general … Continue reading
