I had a slew of photos as I took shots of Parker looking at me from different angles, but in the end just decided to use these two as they were close-up. He is a cutie pie isn’t he?

Will we ever get caught up on our pictures Shelley? As behind as I am on rolling out the Summer walks, I’m going to use my Winter snowy and icy shots first before I return to July treks again.

I don’t think so, and according to my hubby, he needs to order more storage space!! At least we’re never at a loss for ideas!!!

You got that right Shelley – next month it will be three years of continuous Wordless Wednesday posts. I may never run out of fun pics for Wednesdays. I meant to put that about WW longevity in my blogiversary post and forgot – that’s okay, it was long enough. I think I should store pics in the cloud, but I’d probably still store them somewhere else … just in case. 🙂

Wow…3 years of every Wednesday. That’s dedication, Linda, congratulations!!!
I’m so torn about the cloud storage idea. I get it, but I also don’t get it so I’d do the same, keep them in multiple places. 😉

Thanks Shelley – I like doing WW as I can use extra pics or fun pics – I started in mid-March 2020. I usually acknowledge it in the headline. I had a horrible time with WP yesterday and today and last night I finally shut down my computer because I was annoyed. I was trying to put together Monday’s post and WP was in slo-mo and I know I loaded more pics than I needed as it kept halting and finally I was fed up and did the rest of the post, all squirrels, into a slideshow to get it done. That was this afternoon – took another three or more hours this afternoon. Then I wanted to do the WW post for this Wednesday from the Bird Count and had the same trouble – I switched from Firefox to Chrome and there were still issues. I just backed up my blog and I wish I could back up the media library but I did save everything on a flash drive but still. I think it is too large now to be able to back it up – I wonder if you can back it up to the cloud, like Dropbox where you can get a sizeable amount of space. I worry about cloud storage getting hacked then your pic/docs and/or card info is out there.

Oh, dear, you might be on to something about the storage. I think I remember one blogger who told the story of how her free WP account had a limit and her blog started to slow down because of it? Your older posts didn’t contain many photos, so now maybe it’s indicating issues because of it (as if WP has emotions LOL). Maybe try resizing your photos to smaller size and see if that helps? Or check out some of the addin widgets that help with optimization?
I wish I knew what to offer as help!

Thanks for your info Shelley. I have a fellow blogger, a photographer from the UK, who has had at least three different free WP blogs since I began following him about five years ago. And he has linked to blogs even before that. He posts several times a day sometimes, but at least once daily, plus videos (his that he loads onto YouTube). So I’m kind of surprised WP lets him keep creating new blogs – it is certainly nice of them to allow that.

Interesting. Who knows when it comes to WP! I’m sure you’ll figure out what works best for you to speed things up. Maybe it’s memory or storage on your computer? That was my problem, and I see how much it was a problem now that I don’t have a problem with speed. 🤔😂

About a month ago, I anticipated switching over to Windows 10 soon, so I spent an entire day going thru this computer and organizing it, archiving things onto a flash drive. Right now I’m only using 150 GB with 300 GB free. So I’m convinced it was a WP issue with that “list” that clicked on automatically. I could not remove the block until I got to the end because WP kept spinning with the blue icon and locking up. It took me forever to finish that post (which was already long). I set this new Malwarebytes to scan overnight, but sometimes I look down at the task bar and it has started up for some reason. But that was not the case. Strange things afoot. 🙂

Yikes, that’s frustrating. I think a switch to Windows 10 might be helpful. WP is likely not keeping up their updates to work with older computer operating systems. That’s just a guess though.

Wow – this will sound stupid, but I forgot all about this slow issue and my post, which is still missing in Reader – I just checked now. They didn’t write back yet either and I don’t know if the followers who commented got e-mail versions or a feed service or just go to the site as you do. I made a grid of everyone’s site too because a few people got unfollowed but I didn’t unfollow them and wondered why they stopped posting. My angst traveled several paths today … just lost power for the third time and I had just put the heat on again after shutting it off … the wind had died down but there’s ice on the lines.

Man…Linda…the struggles are real! You deserve a break from them, I hope that happens soon!!

They have written me back with suggestions, the first day I had no internet and I have to re-read what they put. I’m a little overwhelmed with catching up (at least on comments and replies tonight), but stranger than that, I am logged in, or thought I was, to my site and cannot access anything, so went on wordpress.com and tried logging in again – it was the same. As long as people see what I post, I’ll just get over it, but … when I logged on after my walk, Firefox had done an update … they do updates all the time. It said it had saved me from “X” number of attackers. I wonder if they deem WP an attacker? Years ago, before the VPN was installed to remote into work, every so often Comcast would do an upgrade and I was blacklisted from work. No words!

Man, that’s so frustrating. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the issues will resolve sooner than later. Have you just tried deleting all the cookies and then relogging in? Sometimes I’ve seen that works (at least it does for some of the apps I use for work). One of these days, I bet it will just magically be resolved. Or you’ll finally get the attention of the Happiness Engineers and they’ll resolve the issues!

Actually, that was one of the recommendations, to delete the cookies at WP, as opposed to deleting my browser’s cookies. I read the info the HE sent me last night and was reluctant to do so. I felt overwhelmed by the three-day internet outage, yesterday’s intermittent outages and slowness and just ended up shutting down completely, a bit of a coward’s way out, but to preserve my sanity, I did so. Now I said “no walk” to try to catch up here, but it was lousy out, but I think of those hungry mouths at the Park.

Well after I left work tonight I was troubleshooting with the Happiness Engineer for about an hour .- told him I’d do the caching on the weekend since I’ve never done it before in case something went wrong as he said browser cookies was better. Then he wanted me to screenshot what I saw in my “Activity List” in my browsers and send it to him, then a few more recommendations, then I went into “Managed Lists” and saw I was not following myself (for Reader) and I said I must have done a combo of keystrokes as I didn’t go in and unfollow myself. Asked if Malwarebytes did it or a Firefox upgrade – not likely. Gremlins at WP I guess. So at least that issue is fixed, but whether it will be slow loading photos onto a post seems like it’s another issue entirely.

I’m glad you were able to connect with the HE! I feel for you with all the WP struggles!!! 🤗
LikeLiked by 1 person
Well I tried some other things he suggested (a new HE) to me … did that tonight and I just did a Wordless Wednesday post and was able to move the pictures (resize them within the post) which I couldn’t do last week and the post did not freeze up. So some success there … so I asked if I still need to do the browser cache. Waiting to learn about that.

I’ll betcha they were doing some tweaking in conjunction with this new Jetpack app and that made other issues (like my Reader issue as well). I did the slideshow of lotuses as they looked so similar and I wanted to get chugging along in Reader as I was 18 days behind at that time. Meanwhile, I got all the way thru March 1st in Reader this morning, before I left at 1:30 p.m. to walk and shovel; now I have to go to Notifications after I finish here.
In your post, the second one with the Cardinals and Squirrel, I could not comment on your site and had to back arrow and comment in Reader. Don’t know why that happens as I always just commented on your site in the past. That’s become the norm now for some reason. I loved the part of the bunny identifying as a snow blower and squirrel identifying as a cardinal. It’s been a long Winter in Wisconsin. 🙂

They’re always tweaking something to mess with those of us who think it was just fine, don’t break it again! Yay – you’re making great progress catching up!!!
I don’t know why that happens that you can’t comment. I’m sure I need to do some maintenance or something. Maybe this weekend I’ll play around and see if I can break it or fix it!
I’m happy you enjoyed the post about the Cardinals and the Squirrels. 😍 Yes, winter has been too long and we got more snow over night. 🙊

Well don’t play with it if I’m the only one …. I would hate to be responsible for you having MORE issues – yikes. It wasn’t always like that as I remember a few times when I made an exceptionally long comments on your site, then pressed “send” … it didn’t go right away and I thought I should have put it in a Word document instead.
I did enjoy seeing that post about the Cardinals and the Squirrels. Poor critters and poor you with more snow. Enough already!

OK, if you say so … I (as well as others) can always go to Reader to comment. That worked great. I was shoveling and trying to get rid of the ice in the driveway and a robin was singing its heart out this morning. I am glad someone likes the ice and snow. 🙂

I saw a ton of Robins at the Park this morning. I had to play with the weather alarm this morning before I left as it does its test every Wednesday and it was still dark and I could hear a Mourning Dove right outside the window. The Robins looked pretty cheery as the sun was out and I saw a couple drilling into the ground for worms – they had to come up short as the ground is frozen.

All good signs that Spring is here! Now if winter would just give up, we’d all be singing like the robins!

Yes and a corncob this morning as well. 🙂 He and the other squirrels are like kids – eat the fun stuff first, then the vegetables. They pushed the corncobs aside for peanuts and seeds. We are having freezing rain, so I may not get down there for two or three days.

I hope he loves corncobs as I left six pounds of corncobs at the three stops, then took the niblets that were in the bag and left them on the cement ledge where the ducks go. We are having freezing rain tonight and then cold weather – I thought I might not get back until Sunday. They ate peanuts and seeds – no interest until the “fun stuff” is eaten. They are like kids with hot dogs or pizza versus eating their vegetables.

those mini corn cobs? I think they’d love them!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes, like I gave them in the Fall. They let them sit there while they ate peanuts and seeds … after the peanuts and sunflower seeds (which I take for the birds, but often are quickly grabbed by the squirrels) disappear, they’ll go for the corncobs. That one squirrel dragged his from the “community table” and across the grass to eat it by himself. Made me smile. I wanted some cracked corn for the ducks, but they were out, so I fed the crowd – everyone’s happy.

Glad you liked the title Anne – “precocious” is a perfect way to describe Parker. He was striking a cute pose, hoping I’d give him some peanuts. Well your eyes are not deceiving you entirely because it was a frosty morning and there are paw and nail marks on the blue metal bench seat where Parker rested his paws.

I have a pair of old shoes on the front porch and squirrels have been putting tons of acorns in them. Hey, it beats having to find and dig up separate, individual buried treasures! 😊

He sure is cute Tom – Parker is my little treasure at the Park. He knows he can schmooze me and I’m a sucker who doles out extra peanuts his way every time. 🙂 I like that story about your shoes and how those resourceful squirrels have found a dry spot where they can squirrel away their acorns. I took them some corn cobs yesterday and they pushed them aside to feast on peanuts and sunflower seeds.

Thanks Ally. He is really cute (and probably knows it too). I’d worry more about those claws than his teeth. I was taking photos once so I had the handle of bag I carry peanuts/seeds in hooked onto the crook of my arm. Next thing I knew, there was Parker scaling my leg as he tried to reach the bag … good thing I was wearing sweatpant with those claws!.

Terri – he is the cutest little guy and likes being the center of attention. If he’s not eating and I’m paying attention to something other than him, or taking a photo, he stands on my shoe which he did today. I was doing the Great Backyard Bird Count … I was counting Mallards at the Ecorse Creek and concentrating as they were all over the place, so Parker was dancing around. 🙂 They don’t allow dogs in this park but people bring them anyway. One guy lets his dog off leash (another no-no) and he chases the squirrels and the goslings when they’re really young.

We have many grey squirrels here in the UK, Linda. Our native red squirrels have almost been wiped out because of them, but I hear they are now making a comeback.
Parker looks great. He must have trusted you to have allowed you to take pictures of him. I’m amazed by how they jump from tree to tree. Their acrobatics are amazing.
