Glad you liked them Anne. I have been watching this Downy Woodpecker at the Park for a couple of years. It is a female (no red spot at the back of its head).

rajkkhoja, I’m lucky to see so many types of birds in a relatively small venue.

I really am lucky rajkkhoja. This is just a small park in a residential area. [I am sorry for the late response – my internet went out early Thursday and was not back until this morning due to a big ice storm.]

The photos are here too on both posts. Do you think it was a glitch in your browser?

I tried Chrome and Firefox – neither worked. I should have looked at the Windows 10 computer, but I unplugged it due to the bad weather.

I see all the photos here by going directly to your blog. Fun titles and fun photos you captured. I hope the Reader issues get resolved!

Now I hate that I reblogged and posted twice, but hopefully everyone saw my message about the photos so they knew why. This morning the post was there but no photos. At 11:00-ish it was gone. I’ll let you know what I find out. Glad you liked the title and photos. Initially I thought Dempsy was a juvenile with no red patch on the neck, then it was older and I realized it was a female, so I just kept the name. Did you notice the beak buried in the bark looking for grubs – Grubhub indeed!

So frustrating, I always just go directly to your blog to read.
Yes, it’s a female and the titles you chose are so appropriate, nice job! LOL – Grubhub!!!

I made a list of everyone after you said you made a spreadsheet as there are some people that don’t post on a “regular posting day” and I find I am somehow “unfollowed” from them. It’s all too much sometimes!

Yes, I agree, it’s all too much sometimes! And then mother nature tosses us a storm as a valid excuse to pause our efforts 😏😉🤗

It was a welcome pause – I hope Comcast is done with its fits and spuuuuurts for a while … as you see, my keyboard issue has returned however. 🙂

Ha ha – yes, for sure Ann Marie. He posed for a few shots, then took an attitude and buried his beak in the bark – mmmm grubs are good!

Yes he was wasn’t he Rebecca? I was lucky to get to close to it. That was a good morning for the Great Backyard Bird Count. The weather was a little warmer than it’s been and the sun was shining – perhaps that is why.

great woodpecker shots one we do not get in the UK – we only have 3 different peckers here.

Thanks Andy – these Downies are our smallest woodpeckers and are very cut. This one is a female as it doesn’t have the red patch on the back of its head. I saw it as a juvenile and thought it was a male for some reason, but I kept the name “Dempsey” for it. [I am sorry for the late response – my internet went out early Thursday and was not back until this morning due to a big ice storm.]

Sweet shots, Linda. They do eat many of the tree pests in our area! 😀

Yes, it was a little warmer after a very cold morning the day before and the sun was out – I think the sun brought out a lot of birds to enjoy it, like we humans do.
