About Linda Schaub

This is my first blog and I enjoy writing each post immensely. I started a walking regimen in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to create a blog as a means of memorializing the people, places and things seen on my daily walks. I have always enjoyed people watching, so my blog is peppered with folks I meet or reflections of characters I have known through the years. Often something piques my interest, or evokes a pleasant memory from my memory bank, so this becomes a “slice o’ life” blog post. I respect and appreciate nature and my interactions with Mother Nature’s gifts is also a common theme. Sometimes the most-ordinary items become fodder for points to ponder over and touch upon. I retired in March 2024 after a career in the legal field. I was a legal secretary for almost 45 years, primarily working in downtown Detroit, then working from my home. I graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Mass Communications (print journalism) in 1978, though I’ve never worked in that field. I would like to think this blog is the writer in me finally emerging!! Walking and writing have met, shaken hands and the creative juices are flowing in Walkin’, Writin’, Wit & Whimsy. I hope you think so too. - Linda Schaub

Blue Light Special.

If you recall Wednesday’s post, at the conclusion of that walk I had dealt with snow showers and even a sleety mix by the time I arrived back home.  My fingers were frozen from taking pictures of that Great Blue … Continue reading

Snow showers and serendipity.

I told myself a couple of years ago that I was no longer going to rely 100% on the weather forecasts and cheat myself out of a walk in doing so.  Too many times that Summer, I had listened to … Continue reading

Tuesday Musings.

The “real Spring” is still waiting in the wings, but not for long.  The weather forecast has us hitting 71 degrees at the tail end of the week.  Well that’s a little silly, isn’t it? Yesterday, during my walk there … Continue reading

Up with the sun, gone with the wind.

I was up early this morning and on the move, as today’s adventure would be at Trenton’s Elizabeth Park. But, before I ventured out, I decided to watch this Sunday unfold before my eyes, as well as document it with … Continue reading

‘Tis the season …

… to be sneezin’.  Or freezin’.  Take your pick. Friday morning we awoke to snow.  There was only one inch of slushy snow that adorned the grass, bushes and trees.  It looked very pretty.  It didn’t stay on the pavement … Continue reading

Hey, I’ve got dibs on that peanut!!

I’ve been doing the two-step all week long … as to my walking regimen anyway.  That would be “one step forward, two steps back” and it’s all due to Mother Nature, who is still trying to get her seasons sorted … Continue reading

Catching some ZZZZZs.

It was a back-to-work Monday for most of us.  How quickly the Easter holiday was over!  My boss was driving back from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula today and told me they had nine inches of snow over the weekend.  My retort … Continue reading

My Easter bonnet …

… had no frills, frou frou or flowers upon it. Instead, it was a fleece-lined, warm wool hat, with a huge fur pom-pom, and, it was a necessity to venture out in that cold air this morning. After yesterday’s rain, … Continue reading

Chicken Little.

When I was out walking this morning I thought of Chicken Little.  You DO remember Chicken Little of “the sky is falling” fame? While most people are immersed in their Easter weekend plans … like dreaming about tomorrow’s feast, donning … Continue reading

Something was afoot …

… and it wasn’t me stepping out with my best foot forward.  Finally, a few more of the long-time walkers were strolling along the perimeter path this morning. So what ultimately brought the “regulars” out of hibernation? It sure wasn’t … Continue reading
